🕯 On the 82nd anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, President Vladimir Putin laid a wreath to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the Kremlin wall to pay tribute to the memory of those who fell while fighting the Nazi invaders.
Great Patriotic War veterans and Armed Forces veterans, as well as military personnel from the Moscow Garrison and military university graduates, took part in the ceremony.
The event concluded with the ceremonial march of the honour guard squad and the military band in front of the national military glory memorial.
The President went on to lay flowers at the Hero City obelisks and the monument in honour of the Cities of Military Glory.

📅 #OTD in 1944, Soviet forces launched Operation Bagration, one of the largest and most successful military operations in history. In two months, they liberated the Belarusian SSR, part of the Lithuanian and Latvian SSRs and eastern Poland.
🔻 By the summer of 1944, the Red Army had succeeded in pushing German forces back from Leningrad, liberating Crimea and Ukraine and reaching the border with Romania. However, enemy forces continued to occupy the territory of Belarus. A salient controlled by the Wehrmacht’s Army Group Centre was established there. During the three-year occupation, Nazi troops had burned hundreds of local communities and killed over 2 million prisoners of war and civilians.
🔻 The Soviet forces simultaneously breached the defensive positions of the Wehrmacht’s Army Group Centre in six sectors, encircled and defeated the Vitebsk and Bobruisk formations, as well as the Orsha and Mogilyov formations. They launched several powerful strikes towards Minsk, entered Poland and approached the borders of East Prussia.
🔻 As a result of this operation, Soviet forces routed the Army Group Centre, one of the most powerful enemy formations. They crossed three large rivers, the Berezina, the Niemen and the Vistula, and seized vital bridgeheads on their western banks. They liberated Belarus, part of the Baltic republics, eastern Poland and opened the road to Berlin. The front was pushed back 550 to 600 km to the west.
🎖 Soviet soldiers displayed mass heroism and impressive fighting prowess, while liberating Belarus. Over 1,500 members of various Soviet ethnicities were made Heroes of the Soviet Union.

The entire military, economic and informational machine of the West is directed against us. We are fighting for the lives and security of our people, for our sovereignty and independence, for the right to be and remain Russia, a state with a thousand-year history.
• This battle, when the fate of our nation is being decided, requires consolidation of all forces. It requires unity, consolidation and a sense of responsibility, and everything that weakens us, any strife that our external enemies can use and do so to subvert us from within, must be discarded.
• What we are facing is essentially a betrayal. Inflated ambitions and personal interests have led to treason – treason against our country, our people and the common cause which Wagner Group soldiers and commanders were fighting and dying for shoulder to shoulder, together with our other units and troops.
• Any internal revolt is a deadly threat to our statehood and our nation. It is a blow to Russia, to our people. Our actions to defend the Fatherland from this threat will be harsh. All those who have consciously chosen the path of betrayal, planned an armed mutiny and taken the path of blackmail and terrorism, will inevitably be punished and will answer before the law and our people.

⚡️ Foreign Ministry statement on the current political situation in the country
💬 The attempted armed mutiny in our country is resolutely rejected by Russian society, which strongly supports President of Russia Vladimir Putin. Reckless aspirations of the conspirators are essentially aimed at destabilising the situation in Russia, destroying our unity, and undermining the efforts of the Russian Federation to reliably ensure international security. Therefore, the mutiny plays into the hands of Russia's external enemies.
We warn Western countries against undertaking even the slightest attempts to use the domestic Russian situation to achieve their Russophobic goals. Such attempts would be futile and will find no resonance either in Russia or among reasonable political forces abroad. We firmly believe that in the near future the situation will find a solution worthy of the age-old wisdom of the Russian people and the Russian State.
All the goals and objectives of the special military operation will be achieved.

💬 We regard the Kiev regime and its overseas patrons’ statements about Russia allegedly posing threats to the Zaporozhye NPP (#ZNPP), as a vile provocation.
This is yet another attempt to discredit Russia, ascribe to it non-existent intentions, and simultaneously cover up their criminal – and actually terrorist – plans to create a nuclear accident that will endanger the life and health of people in the region and all over Europe.
We once again warn the Kiev regime and its Western supporters against engineering potentially grave accidents at ZNPP and call on the IAEA and its leadership to take advantage of their experts’ presence at the plant and record all cases of Ukrainian attacks.
We note that this latest provocation by the Kiev regime squares in time and meaning with the draft resolution submitted by US senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal urging that an instance of radioactive contamination in Ukraine be regarded as a pretext for activating Art. 5 of the Washington Treaty complete with the launching of NATO’s relevant political and military response mechanisms.
It is clear that these irresponsible statements by the Washington hawks are meant for audiences that are ignorant of facts and realities. President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that there is no need for Russia to use nuclear weapons in the context of the Ukraine crisis.
👉 The United States deliberately continues to “up the ante” and generate strategic risks, involving its NATO allies in this dangerous game. This reckless policy will lead to extremely sad consequences, including for Washington itself.
