🇷🇺🙏🇮🇳 Russian Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov and Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S.Jaishankar met with representatives of the Russian and Indian business in New Delhi today

The business forum participants discussed issues of further enhancement of the Russian-Indian practical cooperation, including within the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC).

💬 “The IGC is a unique mechanism for a comprehensive discussion of topical issues on the Russian-Indian agenda with the participation of specialised departments and organizations of the two countries. We are talking not only about trade and economic relations, but also about humanitarian areas of interaction, such as education and culture,” said Denis Manturov.

He also spoke about the measures taken to strengthen Russia's technological sovereignty.

Indian colleagues and business representatives got acquainted with a new measure of support — a cluster investment platform, which can be applied in joint projects. It provides soft loans for the development and manufacturing of priority products, subsidies for pilot batches, preferences for insurance premiums and income tax.

At the same time, Mr Manturov noted that there is no goal to completely replace everything:

💬 “We will rely on trusted foreign partners. We will make every effort to expand our cooperation ties. To exchange competence and experience in the most promising technological areas,” he stressed.

Particular importance is attached to the issues of mutual access of products to the markets of both countries. Together with the Eurasian Economic Commission, it is planned to intensify negotiations with India to conclude a free trade agreement.

Additionally, the issue of signing a Russian-Indian agreement on the encouragement and mutual protection of investment is being worked out. Trade preferences and mechanisms that guarantee the safety of investment will be in demand by both Russian and Indian businesses.

Mr Kurenkov noted that today, advanced working methods and new digital developments allow the Ministry to more accurately forecast and minimize consequences of natural emergencies both on the territory of the Russian Federation and abroad.

Furthermore, he told that the Russian EMERCOM is improving the national legislation to secure assistance to the population affected by emergency situations.

In order to examine thoroughly the experience of other countries in this sphere, Alexander Kurenkov proposed to organize a special seminar, during which representatives of the SCO member states will have a chance to share their accumulated experience via videoconferencing.

“I am confident that our joint activities will make a significant contribution to ensuring the security of the SCO member states’ population,” said Mr Kurenkov.

The presiding Indian side informed about the implementation of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Agreement between the Governments of the SCO Member States on Cooperation in Delivery of Assistance in Emergency Elimination in 2020-2023. Following the discussions, a similar plan for 2023-2025 was approved.

The SCO Secretariat noted the positive results and presented proposals for improving and developing further cooperation between the SCO member states in prevention and elimination of emergency situations.

The 12th meeting of the Heads of Departments of the SCO Member States on prevention and elimination of emergency situations will be held in 2025 in Kazakhstan.
