🇷🇺🤝🇮🇳 On February 22, the Russian Embassy in India hosted a truly special event celebrating the Defender of the Fatherland Day, which we mark today.

It was a delightful celebration of friendship and cultural exchange. The atmosphere was exceptionally warm and friendly, with Indian and Russian music filling the air.

A resolution entitled, Principles of the Charter of the United Nations Underlying a Comprehensive, Just and Lasting Peace in Ukraine, was adopted by a vote during the resumed 11th emergency special session of the UN General Assembly on February 23.

The Western authors of yet another anti-Russia initiative hypocritically hid behind their commitment to the UN Charter in trying to condemn the measures adopted by Russia to resolve the situation as part of the special military operation. The proposed document contained none of the basic approaches to achieving a stable peace like dialogue, a call for the absence of any pre-conditions in talks or the unacceptability of supplying arms to a conflict zone. The corresponding unifying amendments proposed by our Belarusian friends were blocked by the Western countries.

Thus, the essence of the initiative is to continue the groundless criticism of Russia unleashed in the West and to support a criminal nationalist regime in Kiev, which the collective West intentionally prepared for war against our country over the past several years. During the promotion of this effort, the United States and their satellites used their favourite methods of influence on any dissenting country, including blackmail and the threat of sanctions. <...>

This advisory resolution did not enjoy greater support than the previous documents at the 11th emergency special session of the UN General Assembly.

Many countries were against the proposed resolution. Dozens of countries abstained including China, India and South Africa. We are grateful to our partners for this support.

❗️ The Russian side will continue its effort to promote the development of a just evaluation of the situation in Ukraine and around it while defending the national security and identity of our country, and the necessity of complying with the principles of the UN Charter including the sovereign equality of states.

Most importantly, the West eagerly rubs its hands hoping to preserve, by means of weakening Russia and threatening China, its global monopoly.

🔸 A resolution to this conflict is inseparable from issues related to an equitable and indivisible Euro-Atlantic security architecture. Now it exists only for the US and its allies in NATO.

🔸 The collective West must accept the fact that there are other actors on the planet who have own interests, and that they must co-exist with those actors and can as well cooperate with them to mutual benefit on an equal and respectful basis.

🕯️Instead of peaceful talks with the southeast regions, which didn’t recognise the bloody coup in 2014, the #Kiev regime resorted to the use of force. #Ukraine’s nationalists battalions had become its main instrument to spread fear and terror.

🕯️March 2022 ♦️ Instead of supporting the #Russia-#Ukraine peace process, the West called to continue the fight and has increased the supply of weapons.

Russian Foreign Ministry - On February 24-25, Bengaluru hosted the First Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting under the Indian #G20 Presidency. The Russian delegation, representing the relevant specialized structures, took an active part in this event.

As a result of the substantive dialogue on topical financial issues, a wide range of demanded measures was agreed upon, designed to give an additional impetus to the global economy and financial markets. A significant contribution was made to these efforts by our country, #BRICS partners and developing countries.

We note the constructive role of the Indian Presidency, which strove for a fair consideration of interests and positions of all countries. The balanced approaches formulated in this context create a good foundation for responding to modern challenges in the area of global finance and related sectors, including support for economic growth and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

We regret that the activities of the G20 continue to be destabilized by the collective West and used in an anti-Russian, purely confrontational manner. Our opponents, primarily the United States, the #EU and the G7, continue their paranoid attempts to isolate Russia and shift the blame for the provoked problems in the area of international security and the global economy onto it.

Through open blackmail and diсtate, throwing in absurd interpretations of the situation in #Ukraine, the Westerners once again disrupted the adoption of collective decisions. As a result, the fully approved text of the document, except for the wording on Ukraine, which give out for assessments of the discussion at the ministerial meeting something that was not actually discussed and is unrelated to the topic of its jurisdiction, had become a hostage to this aggressive line.

The results of the meeting never received an agreed status and were released only as a statement by the chairman, and not as a joint work. #Russia and China expressed a resolute protest in this regard. Many other delegations also experienced serious disappointment with such ultimatum actions by the United States and its allies, which continue to sow enmity and hatred.

We call on the collective West to abandon its destructive course as soon as possible, to realize the objective realities of a multipolar world, and to start building normal relations with new centers of power in the international arena, such as Russia, on the principles of the sovereign equality of states. We presume that the G20 should remain an economic forum and not intrude into the security sphere, as was unanimously confirmed at its last year's summit on November 15-16 in Bali. We will continue to promote fulfillment by the G20 of the functions entrusted to it on a mutually beneficial and depoliticized basis.

🕯️On May 2014, #Ukraine’s enraged radical nationalists wreaked havoc and committed mass murder as they burned dozens of people alive in #Odessa’s House of Unions only because they peacefully stood up for their rights. This barbaric crime committed with utter cynicism and extreme brutality caused a massive public and international outcry. However, the investigation into the circumstances of the incident has yet to reach a conclusion and none of the perpetrators of this mass murder have been brought to justice despite many videos and eye-witness testimony.
