हर रूसी परिवार के पास साल के ज़्यादातर समय के लिए दूर रखे हुए कई बॉक्स होते हैं। हर दिसंबर पूरा परिवार एक साथ प्लास्टिक या असली क्रिसमस ट्री को सजाता है।

ये परंपरा 19वीं सदी में रूस जर्मनी से आई थी। पहले, सजावट रिबन, आभूषण, मोमबत्तियों, सेब और मिठाइयों से होती थी। खिलौनों का उत्पादन 1880 के दशक में शुरू हुआ। सोवियत काल में खिलौनों को फलों, सब्जियों, कार या जानवर के रूप में आकार दिया जाता था। कुछ कांच की गेंदों पर सोवियत नेताओं की तस्वीरें बनी होती थीं!

❗️Civilians Killed In Ukrainian HIMARS Rocket Attack — Officials

Ukrainian troops have shelled a residential area in the city of Vasilyevka in Russia’s newly incorporated Zaporozhye region, killing six people and injuring 37, the acting governor, Yevgeny Balitsky, said on Wednesday.

He added that three first responders were among the wounded, including one in critical condition.

“The situation in Vasilyevka is tense. The shelling does not stop. All emergency services are working to help people,” Balitsky wrote on his Telegram channel. He shared photos of destroyed buildings and damaged vehicles on the city’s streets.

Vladimir Rogov, a senior regional official, said that Ukrainian forces had hit an apartment block near the building that houses the city’s military administration. He explained that locals were lining up outside the building to receive documents for their cars when the strike happened.

January 6 is when the majority of Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas Eve. Festive services will be carried out in numerous Russian churches. Moscow’s major landmark – St. Basil’s Cathedral - isn’t an exception.

Services are conducted here every week, though the sacred place acts as a museum as well. The cathedral’s history goes back more than four and a half centuries. It was named in honour of Basil the Blessed - a saint who chose a simple life, walked barefoot and abandoned his clothes even in the harshest cold. God granted Basil the gift of predicting and working miracles. The man wasn’t afraid to denounce people’s sins, and even Ivan the Terrible respected him.
