🇷🇺🤝🇮🇳 The 9th Session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernization & Industrial Cooperation of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation was held on December 23, 2022 in New Delhi.

Shri Anurag Jain, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry co-chaired the Indian side; while H. E. Mr Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, co-chaired the Russian side.

The meeting was held as a part of series of meetings between the two countries under the India Russia Inter governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological Cooperation mechanism.

The Working Group reviewed the results of the eighth session of the working group in the focus sub-groups identified, namely modernization, mining and mineral fertilizers & chemicals.

The two sides highlighted the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and reiterated their commitment to deepen and strengthen mutual cooperation in several areas. This visit was an opportunity to consolidate the partnership between India and Russia.

📚 The 15th Russian Language and Literature Festival took place on Monday at the Russian House in Trivandrum. Well-known writers from southern India, members of the public, Indian and foreign students, as well as Russian compatriots took part in the event.

As part of the festival, a photo exhibition about more than 30 Russian writers was opened in the Roerich Gallery of the Russian House.

An important part of the evening was the reading of poems by Russian poets. The majority of participants chose the works of Sergei Yesenin. Among those who read poems were students from Kerala studying Russian, as well as students from Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Egypt. Yesenin's poems were read in Russian, Indian and other languages.

An annual award named after Sergey Yesenin was presented at the festival. This year, Director of the School of Foreign Languages of the University of Mysore (Karnataka), Dr T.K.Gajanan, was awarded "for his contribution to the popularization of the Russian language and literature."

The embassy said one of those who died is Pavel Antov, a Vladimir Region Legislative Assembly member.

⚠️ The United States is the main beneficiary of the military conflict [in Ukraine] as it seeks to reap biggest benefits from it in economic and military-strategic terms. ✍️ The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed an Executive Order on special economic measures in the fuel-and-energy sector in response to the price cap established on Russian oil and oil products by some foreign states.

⚠️ The Executive Order has established that in connection with the ban imposed by the United States, and other foreign countries that sided with them, on the transport of Russian oil and oil products and related services, which is applied if the price of Russian oil and oil products is above the limit established by said foreign states (price limit mechanism), Russia bans the sale of oil and oil products to foreign companies and individuals if the contracts on these sales include the use of this mechanism directly or indirectly. The established ban applies to all stages of sales up to and including the final buyer.

The ban on Russian oil sales established by the current Executive Order becomes valid on the day of its entry into force. Russian oil and oil product sales, that are banned by the Executive Order, may be carried out under a special decision of the President of the Russian Federation.
