❗️ Russian President Putin’s latest statements:

▪️ Exchange of Bout and Griner was an initiative of the American side.

▪️ Everything is possible, contacts continue through the special services, Putin comments on the possibility of new prisoner exchanges with the United States.

▪️ Russia will have no losses due to the current Russian oil price cap.

▪️ Contacts between Russian and US intelligence agencies creates a certain atmosphere for a broader dialogue with the US, but they do not discuss other issues along this line.

▪️ There are no questions or problems in terms of the course of the special military operation, everything is going stably.

▪️ Russia now has more modern and efficient cruise missiles than the US.

▪️ Ex-German Chancellor Angela Merkel's words mean that no one, not even Europe, was going to fulfill any agreements, it only wanted to pump Ukraine with weapons.

▪️Trust was almost at zero already, but after such statements, as Angela Merkel's, it is not clear how and with whom to negotiate.

▪️Russia was late in reacting on Ukraine, maybe we should have started earlier, but we hoped to solve it peacefully.

▪️ The settlement process with Ukraine will not be easy and will require some time, but all participants of this process will have to agree with the current realities.

The Russian President has hit back at the massive wave of sanctions loaded on to Russia in 2022, stressing the economy is faring better than most in the West. Here's what Vladimir Putin had to say at the Eurasian Economic Council Summit in Bishkek:

📍Thanks to measures to battle challenging times, we have saved our economies and many within the Eurasian Economic Council sphere
📍Unemployment is lower than in many other nations
📍No issues with basic goods or exports, there's an eagerness to find solutions and it's led to positive results
📍Plan to create 'collective gas market' in coming years
📍The question of price caps is more about negotiating economic policy
📍Bout-Griner exchange about finding compromise, contact between Russian-US intelligence services never stopped

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to questions at the Primakov Readings International Forum, Moscow, December 7, 2022

Key points:

🔻 It is obvious that the ongoing deregulation of the international system of relations is rooted in the unwillingness of the Western minority to abandon its hegemonistic aspirations and to accept the multipolar reality.

🔻 Multipolarity will not assert itself tomorrow or the day after. The establishment of the multipolar world as the generally recognised basis for the subsequent operation of the international community will take a historically long time.

🔻 It is obvious that we are realigning our foreign policy and foreign trade. We no longer want to remain under the illusion that the West, having proved to be completely unreliable, deceitful and impossible to negotiate with, will conscientiously participate in the globalisation processes or even mechanisms of its own making.

🤝 We have people to work with and to count on.

🔻 Western system has completely discredited itself as unable to uphold agreements or to inspire respect or a desire to preserve its principles and mechanisms.

🔻 They say we are turning away from the West to face the East. We are not turning away as it was the West who ended cooperation with us and built a wall. We work with those who are ready.

🎙 President Putin's video address to the participants of the joint meeting of SCO and CIS defence ministers

Read in full

💬 I am delighted to welcome defence ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and CIS member states to Moscow.

☝️ I think this meeting is timely and very significant. Cooperation as part of the SCO and the CIS enables us to attain a wide range of objectives, primarily having to do with protecting our countries from external threats and ensuring global and regional stability while relying on mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests.

This is especially important today as new drastic challenges are emerging, and major geopolitical shifts are taking place.

<...>

❗️ I am convinced that the nature and scale of today's threats raise the requirements concerning cooperation between our defence agencies. It is imperative to work in cooperation and build a more flexible and sustainable security and cooperation system that can handle the current challenges.

<...>

Joint peacekeeping missions have become exceptionally important as well. It is crucial to further improve the peacekeeping units’ operational capabilities and to keep them involved in #UN peace-keeping efforts.

🤝 I am sure that close partnership in the defence sphere will raise our countries’ standing and influence, contribute to strengthening security and stability in Eurasia and the world as a whole and, without a doubt, will promote the traditions of friendship and trust between our countries and peoples.

#Lavrov: I think that India is currently one of the leading countries in terms of economic growth, maybe even the leader. Its population will soon be bigger than that of any other country.

New Delhi has vast diplomatic experience in settling various kinds of problems, as well as authority and a reputation in its region. It is part of a range of integration structures in South Asia, within the SCO, and of course, it takes an active role in the UN.

#Lavrov: Naturally, India is one of those countries that not only claim, but are the essence of the emerging multipolar world as one of its most important poles.

The same can be said about Brazil when it comes to how to reflect multipolarity within a reformed UN Security Council. In recent years, India and Brazil have been promoting their applications to join the UN Security Council together with Japan and Germany, which is a sign of multipolarity. A G4 group of sorts.

We see what added value India and Brazil can bring to the UN Security Council knowing their stances on global and regional issues.

We do not see any added value in accepting Germany or Japan as permanent members of this UN body. We have not seen any policy differences between these countries and the US and NATO over the years.
