🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s answer to a media question regarding the possibility of a nuclear strike on NATO countries in case of an attempt to blockade Kaliningrad (September 30, 2026)
❓ Question: Is the statement issued by the Russian Embassy in Ireland, which mentioned the possibility of a nuclear strike on NATO countries if they attempt to blockage Kaliningrad, the official position of the Foreign Ministry of Russia? What exactly has provoked this statement in September 2026?
💬 Maria Zakharova: The Russophobic hysteria in Western revanchist circles has reached fever pitch.
A handful of hotheads are steadily pushing Europe towards a potential conflict and preparing it for further escalation. Ordinary Europeans are being frightened with apocalyptic scenarios and “hybrid threats” allegedly emanating from Russia.
They have embarked on a course of full-scale militarisation, expanding their armed forces and driving defence spending in NATO countries bordering Russia to unprecedented levels. The bloc is expanding its military infrastructure, rapidly building military enterprises and integrating civil innovations and dual technologies into their defences. Europe has quickly launched drone production facilities.
Alliance members hold aggressive military exercises in direct proximity of our borders, training to implement offensive scenarios against our country, including the potential blockade of the Kaliningrad Region and Russian ports on the Baltic Sea, as well as the dispatch of allied troops via the Suwalki corridor.
They have developed close interaction with Ukraine to learn from its experience in active warfare against the Armed Forces of Russia. Several European leaders have taken the liberty of speaking publicly about their capabilities “to raze Russian air defences and missile bases [in the Kaliningrad Region] to the ground”.
Some EU countries that border on Russia are flaunting their readiness to allow the deployment of nuclear weapons in their territory, and are making appropriate changes to national legislations.
On the one hand, this irresponsible policy allows some people to accelerate their political careers and gain access to the EU’s budgets. On the other hand, it appears that the blundering European strategists have come to the conclusion that the only way to erase the consequences of their epic failures is 👉 through war.
Poland's FM Radoslaw Sikorski is dreaming of inflicting a military defeat on Russia. The Defence Minister of Estonia is publicly talking about the advantages of a “preemptive” war against our country. These and other politicians believe that such a war would be waged only with the means where NATO holds an advantage. These functionaries should be brought back to reality. We hope that our warnings will be heard by those they are meant for.
❗️ As President Vladimir Putin has said, our country does not threaten and doesn’t intend to threaten European countries.
However, there should be no doubt whatsoever that Russia has the necessary capabilities for preventing any aggression and inflicting defeat on any aggressor. If Europe attacks Russia, it will be a completely different sort of war – a very short one.

🕊️ Mahatma Gandhi's strength lay in his willingness to engage in dialogue with even the most difficult opponents. His methods of passive resistance, including the famous Salt Satyagraha, demonstrated the effectiveness of non-violent struggle against colonial oppression and led to India's independence.
🌏 Even today, his ideas on justice and dialogue continue to inspire people, and his legacy serves as a guiding light for the entire world.
🇷🇺🇮🇳Two monuments to honour the memory of this prominent Indian political and public figure have been installed in Moscow — on Lomonosovsky Prospekt (unveiled in 1988) and on the premises of the Indian Embassy (2007).
