🧑🚀 Tsiolkovsky made fundamental contributions to the development of rocketry and the theory of interplanetary travel. He studied the principles of jet propulsion, demonstrated the feasibility of using rockets for spaceflight, proposed a number of technical solutions for rocket control, and explored the prospects of establishing orbital space stations.
Tsiolkovsky acquired much of his knowledge through self-education. After nearly losing his hearing as a child due to scarlet fever, he continued his education independently from the age of 14, studying physics and mathematics. His scientific works subsequently became one of the foundations for the development of Russian rocket and space technology.
Tsiolkovsky’s scientific legacy holds a special place in the history of space exploration and remains significant for the study of rocket and space technology.

Foreigners learning to speak Russian at the IFY–2026 🇷🇺
What brought together participants from Zimbabwe, Mexico and India? They worked through a few lessons of a free Russian-as-a-foreign-language course and picked up several new words along the way!

What brought together participants from Zimbabwe, Mexico and India? They worked through a few lessons of a free Russian-as-a-foreign-language course and picked up several new words along the way!
Some repeated a word three times over, some laughed at their own pronunciation, and some were surprised by how quickly a new phrase stuck. We'd say it worked out pretty well🔥

✉️ Russia's President Vladimir Putin sent a message to India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly congratulating him on his birthday (September 17, 2026)
✍️ The message reads, in part:
“You are rightly enjoying a deep respect from your compatriots and great authority on the global stage. It is impossible to overstate your personal contribution to strengthening the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia.
🇷🇺 🇮🇳 I would like to express my gratitude for the warm and cordial welcome and hospitality extended to me and the Russian delegation during my visit to New Delhi last week. The talks we held were undoubtedly substantive, frank, and productive. As always, it was a genuine pleasure to talk with you, and our discussions once again demonstrated your extraordinary political wisdom and foresight.
We will, of course, continue our constructive cooperation on pressing bilateral and international issues for the benefit of our friendly nations.”

Skills of the Future: No-Tie Talk — How It Went 🌐 👔
🟢 On September 14, the International Festival of Youth — 2026 hosted the first large-scale event of MGIMO’s “Future Global Leaders Laboratory” program — an interactive session, “Skills of the Future: No-Tie Talk.”
🌏 Three young Festival participants from Russia, Mongolia and Vietnam presented their vision of the key competencies needed by future leaders. Invited experts continued the conversation: they shared professional experience, practical recommendations, and their view of the skills that are becoming especially important in today’s world.
We’ve prepared for you several leadership tips that our experts shared with the session participants 🤫
➡️ Ekaterina Shuvalova, Advisor to the Rector — Deputy Vice-Rector for Students’ Development and International Affairs at MGIMO:
➡️ Tatyana Terentyeva, Deputy CEO for Human Resources at Rosatom State Corporation:
➡️ Dauren Abayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation:
➡️ Kunal Sharma, Founder and President of the Indian youth platform Chhatra Sansad:
➡️ Shi Tianchi, Deputy Head of the International Department of the All-China Youth Federation:
💭 And the most interesting part — everyone could offer their own version of the answer. All participants joined the conversation through a digital platform and, in real time, chose the qualities they consider key for a modern leader. That’s how the “skills cloud” appeared — a collective portrait of the professional of the future.
Thank you to the experts, young participants, and all guests for the open conversation, fresh ideas, and the atmosphere of a genuine no-tie talk. And this is only the beginning of the “Future Global Leaders Laboratory.” Ahead are new meetings, discussions, and opportunities to search together for answers to the questions that determine the future.
See you at the next Festival events!🩵

What skills should a future leader possess? What helps one make decisions under uncertainty, find a common language with people from different cultures, and lead others?
We’ve prepared for you several leadership tips that our experts shared with the session participants 🤫
Networking is not about the number of contacts, but about the quality of communication because the real value comes after the exchange of business cards, when genuine human connections begin to take shape.
In a world of generative AI, where there is no single source of truth, we need to learn how to manage AI as part of a team, make use of machine-generated expertise, while developing uniquely human skills such as critical thinking.
My advice to future leaders is simple: first and foremost, be a good person, become a professional in your field, and constantly build your social capital.
When people ask me what to do after graduating from university, I always advise them to ask themselves three questions: 1) What problem do I want to solve in my community, country, or university? 2) Whose life do I want to impact? 3) What legacy do I want to leave behind?
Lifelong learning is the foundation of modern life. However, learning is not simply about becoming familiar with a topic — it is about understanding its essence. Time management is merely a tool; the most important thing is to define your values and goals.

🎙 Russia's President Vladimir Putin Address to the nation ahead of the 2026 State Duma elections
💬 Vladimir Putin: Friends, citizens of Russia,
I consider it important to address you now, when our big country is going through a significant and largely definitive election campaign.
In strict compliance with law and within the specified timeframe, we are electing members of the State Duma, legislative assemblies, governors of several regions, and members of municipal bodies.
This extensive election campaign is taking place as we continue the special military operation. Residents of Donbass and Novorossiya will be voting for State Duma deputies for the first time since their reunification with Russia.
I firmly believe that our soldiers and officers involved in this challenging work at the frontline will be among active voters. Their courage and loyalty to the Fatherland are exemplary for the entire nation.
We know what Russia is fighting for and what the duty of every citizen is. Our heroes are forging victory on the battlefield. Everybody who is honestly working for the benefit of the country – and understand their responsibility for its future – are bringing this victory closer. Participation in the upcoming vote that is taking place during the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia is also a responsibility and contribution to the country’s strength.
❗️ Your choice and determination will show once again that millions of people are backing our fighters and that we stand together, united by shared values, our historical memory, love for our Motherland, and that nobody can divide or intimidate us, undermine our statehood, our public and political system.
Every vote matters. You and your personal choice will directly determine what political forces will represent people’s interests in the federal parliament, in the regions and in local governance.
I am certain that, with your support and trust, the most deserving and competent candidates, the true patriots of Russia will come out as winners. Those will be candidates who will not let you down and who have proved their loyalty to the Motherland and their readiness to serve our nation and protect our country from any threats.
Friends,
🗳 The voting will take place over three days, on September 18, 19 and 20.
I urge you to exercise your constitutional right and make a thought-out and responsible decision, so that the election results attest to the maturity and resilience of Russian society. This will be our collective response to those who seek to undermine Russia, slow down its development, or strip away our sovereignty or our right to determine our own future.
🇷🇺 Participation in the elections is our joint contribution to Russia’s victory.
