☢️ Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (#ZNPP):

On August 25, two ZNPP employees were injured in
a targeted Ukrainian drone attack.

The attack took place near the plant’s hydraulic structures while employees of the repair and construction unit were carrying out their duties.

The strike deliberately targeted nuclear plant workers responsible for ensuring the facility’s operation.

One of the injured employees is in serious condition, while the other sustained moderate injuries. Both were promptly evacuated to a medical facility, where they are receiving all necessary care and remain under medical supervision.

❗️ Attacks on ZNPP personnel while they are performing their duties pose a direct threat to human life and the safety of the ZNPP.

Despite the continuing tense situation, the plant’s personnel continue to carry out their duties and monitor the facility’s safety parameters.

⚡️ Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rodion Miroshnik:

💬 Mines disguised as logs have been discovered in the Zaporozhye Region. Ukrainian militants are using them for remote mining.

The disguised mines were found in rear areas of the Zaporozhye Region. Ukrainian drones have also been recorded dropping them in places frequently visited by civilians.

Such explosive devices are virtually indistinguishable along roads, paths and forest belts. They are fitted with fuses triggered by changes in the magnetic field, causing immediate detonation when a car, motorcycle or person carrying metal objects approaches.

❗️ The use of such mines constitutes a direct violation of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, which prohibits disguising explosive devices as harmless everyday objects.

🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's statement on the occasion of Abkhazia and South Ossetia Independence Recognition Day (August 26, 2026)

💬 On August 26, the peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia once again mark a holiday of particular significance in their history – the Day of International Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Day of Recognition by the Russian Federation of the State Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia.

🇷🇺 #OTD in 2008, Russia became the first country in the world to recognise the sovereignty of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

This decision marked the culmination of the two republics’ selfless struggle for independence, saved their peoples from the fate of extermination at the hands of Georgia’s criminal regime at the time, and laid the foundations for a peaceful and prosperous future.

Russia’s contribution to restoring stability in the region, despite the “collective West” fuelling the conflict’s escalation, gives this date special significance for our country as well.

🤝 Over the past 18 years, Russia-Abkhazia and Russia-South Ossetia relations have developed dynamically. On September 9, 2008, Moscow established diplomatic relations with Sukhum and Tskhinval, and on September 17, 2008, signed treaties of friendship and cooperation with both republics.

Today, we are helping the young republics strengthen their state institutions, develop their economies and social sectors, and enhance their international standing. We are working to harmonise national legislation, create a common defence and security framework, and expand interregional cooperation.

We intend to continue providing the friendly republics with substantial assistance in strengthening their statehood, security and economies.

Together, we will continue strengthening our strategic partnership and alliance, while preserving our shared traditions, cultural heritage and spiritual values.

We wish the fraternal republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia peace, well-being and prosperity.
