Since its establishment in 2014, the EAEU has proven to be a successful project of regional integration based on equality and mutual accommodation of the economic interests of the Union members. The EAEU has become an independent and self-sufficient centre of an emerging multipolar world.
The member states of the Union — the #EAEU "Five" — Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia — have achieved significant progress in functioning and improving of the common market. Mutual trade is demonstrating sustainable growth, cooperation is becoming closer in such areas as transportation, logistics, industry, agriculture, energy and food security.
The Eurasian Economic Union has firmly established itself as a major actor in global economic affairs with an extensive network of partnerships. Today, free trade agreements of the EAEU with Vietnam, Iran, and Serbia are already in force, two non-preferential agreements have been signed with China. The EAEU maintains close cooperation with the Union's observer states, such as Uzbekistan and Cuba.

🎙 Statement by President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (Astana, May 29, 2026)
💬 It is indeed symbolic that exactly 12 years ago, On May 29, 2014, the founding Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union was signed here in Astana.
The consistent and painstaking joint work carried out by our states to implement this document has made it possible to create a truly effective integration association. The assessments voiced by our colleagues – both positive and critical – clearly show that the Eurasian Economic Union is functioning successfully overall and continues to develop further.
I would like to particularly emphasise that, given the specifics of the current situation, close Eurasian integration brings real benefits to each member state of our Association. It helps increase business revenues and improve the quality of life and well-being of our countries’ citizens.
📈 The key macroeconomic indicators of our “five” show a stable positive dynamic, and this speaks for itself. Total industrial production in the Eurasian Union increased by 1.6%, agricultural production by 4.6%, and construction by 4.2%. Growth is also being recorded in most sectors of the economy.
Trade flows between the states of our association reached $95 billion in 2025. The structure of trade is improving thanks to expanded supplies of high-tech products and a simultaneous decrease in the share of raw materials.
Trade barriers are being consistently eliminated within the EAEU, and non-tariff regulation rules are being unified.
Practically all settlements between our countries are carried out in national currencies. This means that mutual export-import operations are reliably protected from external influence and negative trends on global markets.
Measures are being taken to further harmonise the customs legislation of the member states.
***
We have all repeatedly emphasised that the Eurasian Economic Union and our integration activity attract considerable attention abroad.
Many foreign states and major regional structures – such as the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – are showing interest in developing ties with the “five”.
For its part, the EAEU remains invariably open to mutually beneficial and equal cooperation with constructively minded countries and associations.
The circle of the “five’s” preferential partners is steadily expanding year by year. In 2025, trade agreements were concluded with Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. Negotiations on trade liberalisation with India have also intensified.
☝️ I would like to stress that deepening allied ties with all EAEU states is an unconditional priority for Russia. We intend to continue fully supporting the development of integration processes across the entire Eurasian space.

🎙 Statement by Vassily Nebenzia at a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine (New York, May 28, 2026)

💬 What is particularly striking is the hypocrisy and cynical reaction of European delegations, which are usually quick to level accusations against Russia whenever politically convenient, but in this case chose to effectively ignore the tragedy in Starobelsk and shift the blame onto Moscow.
But we were not surprised then, and we are not surprised now. What human compassion can we expect from them when the blood of the children of Starobelsk is on their hands as well?
⚠️ For many years, their countries have been supplying the terrorist Zelensky regime with money, intelligence, weapons and ammunition, encouraging it to commit new crimes against civilians, and then shielding it by portraying it as a victim.
***
The UN Secretariat, so prompt in some cases, has unfortunately once again limited itself to general rhetoric and the vaguest possible wording, avoiding a direct assessment of Kiev’s actions. It claims there is no access to the site of the tragedy and no possibility to verify the data.
We have repeatedly stated that UN representatives can visit the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions via Russian territory. Yet UN officials do not make use of these opportunities.
❓ Why does the UN Secretariat so easily find the words when it needs to support the Western version of events, yet struggle so painfully to choose its wording when it must call a Ukrainian strike on children a crime?
Why do some victims deserve immediate compassion, while others do not? Why does the death of minors in one place prompt loud statements and condemnations, while the deaths of children in Starobelsk are met with silence?
☝️ Here is yet another glaring manifestation of the West’s double standards and hypocrisy.
***
The events of the past week have clearly shown that neither the leader of the Kiev regime nor his sponsors seek any substantive dialogue with our country on the prospects for a peaceful settlement. On the contrary, they are doing everything to escalate the confrontation.
❗️ Routine calls for an unconditional ceasefire are merely a cover for Kiev to continue its terror.
The so-called leaders of Europe are only encouraging Zelensky’s already reckless and suicidal mindset. The tone of their comments leaves no doubt that they have finally and irreversibly written Ukraine off, once again trying to buy time for their insane preparations for “war with Russia”.
***
The Western propaganda machine works day and night for one purpose only – to shift responsibility for the latest actions of “civilised” states in Ukraine onto our country.
Let me say this at once: they will not get away with it. They will inevitably be held accountable for their reckless and predatory actions against both Russia and Ukraine.
👉 It is obvious that without military pressure, no calls for real diplomacy will work. Russia's Armed Forces will continue fulfilling the objectives of the special military operation to denazify and demilitarise Ukraine until the security threats emanating from its territory are fully eliminated.
