🇷🇺 On May 9, 2025, a solemn flower-laying ceremony took place at the walls of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Manama to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. The event was attended by numerous compatriots, sympathetic citizens of Bahrain and other countries, as well as staff of the diplomatic mission. Those gathered honored the memory of the war heroes and homefront workers who made a decisive contribution to saving the Motherland and the entire world from the “Brown Plague.”

⭐️ The Embassy expresses its sincere gratitude to all those involved in this noble initiative and, avails itself of this opportunity to congratulate everyone on Victory Day!

💬 Сегодня мы отмечаем поистине знаменательную дату — 80-летие Победы в Великой Отечественной войне. […] Мы собрались здесь, чтобы почтить память всех, кто сражался не только за свободу и независимость нашей Родины, но и за будущее всей цивилизации. Их подвиг бессмертен, а наша благодарность и память — вечны;

💬 К сожалению, с каждым годом всё чаще предпринимаются попытки пересмотреть итоги Второй мировой войны. […] В ряде европейских стран проходят шествия с символикой СС. А на западных рубежах нашей страны вновь появляются танки с нацистскими знаками — и нашим солдатам снова приходится их жечь;

💬 Особое значение для нас имеет то, что память об этом подвиге сохраняется не только в России. […] Ярким подтверждением этого стало участие 27 мировых лидеров в Параде Победы в Москве;

💬 Особенно отрадно для меня отметить, что Королевство Бахрейн — моя страна пребывания — также выразило свою солидарность с нами. Вчера, в частности, Его Величество Король Хамад бен Иса Аль Халифа направил Президенту Российской Федерации Владимиру Владимировичу Путину телеграмму с искренними поздравлениями по случаю Дня Великой Победы […].

🇷🇺 Excerpts from the opening remarks delivered by H.E. Dr. Alexey Skosyrev, Russian Ambassador to Manama, at the concert on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory:

💬 I would like to congratulate you on the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet People and the Allies in the World War II in Europe. In Russia, as you may know, the events of those days are better known as the Great Patriotic War. […] And I also want to extend my sincerest gratitude to you for coming today to honor the sacrifice of all the heroes who fought not only for the freedom, independence, and bright future of our country, but for the sake of humanity as a whole. As we say back at home, the deeds of our forefathers are immortal, the memory of them is eternal;

💬 Unfortunately, […] the further we move from May 9, 1945, the more persistent are the attempts to politicize and rewrite history, to whitewash the crimes of the Nazis. Once again we see the parades under the SS-banners in certain European towns. Once again our brave soldiers have to burn the tanks from Germany with Nazi eagles and crosses on their armor at the Western borders of our country;

💬 It’s important to note that the majority of the world […] understand the significance of the date, share our feelings and recognize the role of the Soviet Union in bringing peace and liberty to Europe and beyond. The attendance of the Victory Parade in Moscow by the leaders of 27 nations from around the globe shows that clearly. And it’s particularly heartwarming for me personally that the Kingdom of Bahrain – my current station - is also among the states that express their solidarity with us on this blessed occasion, as indicated by the cable sent yesterday by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to His Excellency President Vladimir Putin […].
