🇷🇺🇿🇦The delegation from the Parliament of South Africa, led by the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, held a bilateral meeting with the Russian parliamentary delegation, led by Valentina Matvienko, as part of the official parliamentary working visit to the Russian Federation.
The bilateral meeting focused on deepening cooperation between the Parliament of South Africa and the Federation Council under the 2014 Memorandum of Cooperation, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, expanding cooperation between South African provinces and Russian regions, and enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including agriculture, education, science and technology, youth development, women's empowerment, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.
The bilateral meeting focused on deepening cooperation between the Parliament of South Africa and the Federation Council under the 2014 Memorandum of Cooperation, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, expanding cooperation between South African provinces and Russian regions, and enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including agriculture, education, science and technology, youth development, women's empowerment, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.

В связи с эскалацией боевых действий в регионе Персидского залива призываем российских граждан соблюдать максимальную осторожность, принимать дополнительные меры личной безопасности, поддерживать связь с туроператорами и авиаперевозчиками, внимательно следить за оповещениями / предупреждениями местных властей, сообщениями МИД и загранпредставительств России.
❗️ Настоятельно рекомендуем избегать потенциально опасных районов, не приближаться к военным объектам и критической инфраструктуре; при угрозах ударов ракет/БПЛА незамедлительно укрыться в безопасных местах, воздерживаться от распространения в соцсетях кадров работы ПВО и последствий атак – с учётом административной / уголовной ответственности в странах региона.

Importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations 🇷🇺🇿🇦
During a bilateral meeting Ms Mtshweni-Tsipane emphasised the importance of giving practical effect to the 2024 Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Council of Provinces and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation by expanding exchanges between parliamentarians, strengthening committee-to-committee cooperation, and promoting collaboration between South African provinces and Russian regions.
👉🏻 Mr Vyacheslav Volodin and Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane agreed that legislatures have a critical role to play in advancing cooperation between the two countries through effective law-making, robust oversight and sustained parliamentary dialogue.

Председатель Госдумы Вячеслав Володин обсудил актуальные направления развития двустороннего межпарламентского сотрудничества России и ЮАР с Председателем Национального совета провинций Парламента Южно-Африканской Республики Рефилве Марией Мтсвени-Тсипане.
«Следуя решениям наших лидеров, мы должны постараться сделать все, чтобы межпарламентское сотрудничество развивалось, придать нашему взаимодействию системный характер для реализации межгосударственных договоренностей, внести свой вклад в укрепление отношений между нашими народами и странами», — отметил Вячеслав Володин.

His vision of a society founded on fairness, inclusion, and dialogue remains as relevant today as ever and will continue to guide future generations.
In Russia, the memory of Nelson Mandela is held in the highest regard. Since January 2023, a square bearing his name has stood in the eastern part of Moscow as a testament to his extraordinary legacy. In September 2024, a monument to Nelson Mandela was unveiled in the same square, symbolizing the deep respect of the Russian people for his lifelong struggle for freedom and justice, as well as the enduring example he set for generations to come.
🇷🇺🇿🇦 Russia highly values its strategic partnership and longstanding friendship with the Republic of South Africa, built on mutual trust, sovereign equality, and a shared commitment to a more just and multipolar international order.
