Валентина Матвиенко: Межпарламентские связи России и ЮАР носят дружественный характер
Председатель Совета Федерации Валентина Матвиенко обсудила c Председателем Национального совета провинций Парламента Южно-Африканской Республики Рефилве Марией Мтсвени-Тсипане межпарламентское взаимодействие двух стран.
Валентина Матвиенко отметила, что визит делегации ЮАР в Россию отражает позитивные тенденции в развитии двусторонних отношений.
Спикер СФ подчеркнула, Южно-Африканская Республика – надёжный, проверенный временем партнёр ещё со времен борьбы с режимом апартеида.
Она напомнила, что в сентябре исполнится 20 лет, как Россия и ЮАР заключили Договор о дружбе и партнёрстве.
Рефилве Мария Мтсвени-Тсипане отметила, что отношения ЮАР и России имеют исторический характер. По мнению Председателя Национального совета провинций Парламента ЮАР, сейчас хороший момент, чтобы укрепить связи двух стран, в том числе на парламентском уровне.
Говоря об укреплении межпарламентских связей, Председатель СФ обратила внимание на возможности группы по сотрудничеству с Национальным советом провинций ЮАР, которую возглавляет председатель Комитета СФ по экономической политике Андрей Кутепов. Валентина Матвиенко предложила использовать формат видеоконференций для взаимодействия профильных комитетов парламентов двух стран, а также наладить контакты между молодыми парламентариями ЮАР и Палатой молодых законодателей при СФ.
Собеседники уделили внимание межрегиональному сотрудничеству.
Глава Совета Федерации отметила плотное взаимодействие парламентариев России и ЮАР на международных площадках, в том числе в Межпарламентском союзе и в рамках БРИКС. Спикер СФ добавила, что представители ЮАР — желанные гости на международных мероприятиях, проводимых в России.

🇷🇺🇿🇦 Valentina Matvienko: Russia-South Africa Interparliamentary Relations Are Friendly by Nature
Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko held talks with Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane, Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, focusing on interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
Valentina Matvienko noted that the visit of the South African delegation to Russia reflects the positive momentum in the development of bilateral relations.
The Speaker of the Federation Council stressed that South Africa has been a reliable and time-tested partner of Russia since the days of the struggle against the apartheid regime.
She also recalled that this September marks the 20th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Partnership between Russia and South Africa.
Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane stressed, that relations between South Africa and Russia are rooted in a long-standing historical partnership. According to the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, the current moment presents a valuable opportunity to further strengthen bilateral ties, including at the parliamentary level.
Addressing the strengthening of interparliamentary ties, Valentina Matvienko highlighted the work of the Federation Council's cooperation group with the National Council of Provinces of South Africa, headed by Andrey Kutepov, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy. She proposed making greater use of videoconferencing for cooperation between relevant committees of the two parliaments and establishing contacts between young South African parliamentarians and the Chamber of Young Legislators under the Federation Council.

The bilateral meeting focused on deepening cooperation between the Parliament of South Africa and the Federation Council under the 2014 Memorandum of Cooperation, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, expanding cooperation between South African provinces and Russian regions, and enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including agriculture, education, science and technology, youth development, women's empowerment, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.
