His people and His city will no longer be called Forsaken!
Isaiah 62:4
Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.
Isaiah 54:5-7
For thy Maker is thine Husband; the LORD of Hosts is His Name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall He be called. For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God. For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.
The people and the land will no longer be called Desolate!
Isaiah 54:1-3
Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
Jerusalem Above!
Galatians 4:26-27
But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
Isaiah 62:4
But thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah and thy land Beulah.
Translated from the original Hebrew, Hephzibah literally means, “My delight is in her.”
Beulah meaning:
married, favoured and blessed of the LORD.
The LORD’S Watchmen!
Isaiah 62:6-9
I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give Him no rest, till He establish, and till He make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
Psalm 122:6-7
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
Isaiah 52:8-10
Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion. Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted His people, He hath redeemed Jerusalem. The LORD hath made bare His holy Arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
The people of the LORD, their land, and the fruit of their labor will be restored and they will reign with Him from the city of Jerusalem for 1000 years!
He will give them — Beauty for ashes, joy for sorrow, and praise for their heaviness of heart! Read the beautiful promises about this restoration in Isaiah 61 when you have time!
Isaiah 62:8
The LORD hath sworn by His right hand, and by the Arm of His strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured: But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD ; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of My holiness.
Isaiah 62:10-12
Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people. Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy Salvation cometh; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him.

The Counsel Of The LORD Will Stand — His Purposes Will Come To Pass!
As we look around us at the world it sometimes seems that it is in chaos and evil is winning over good, instead of good winning over evil!
What does God’s Word have to say about this? If we believe that God is Sovereign and He has a plan, we will be able to put our worries aside knowing that everything is going according to His purposes!
Though the LORD never condones evil, He often uses even evil people for His purposes! Here are just a few examples!
Joseph’s Brothers: Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery, an act they intended for evil. However, God used this situation to save Joseph's family from famine by placing Joseph in a position of power in Egypt.
Pharaoh: God used Pharaoh's hardening of his heart to reveal His glory and deliver the Israelites from slavery.
Judas: Judas betrayed Jesus, an act of evil, but God used this betrayal to fulfill His plan of sending Jesus to die for the sins of those who would trust Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior.
The Babylonians: God used the Babylonians, an evil nation, to bring judgment on Judah for their idolatry.
In Habakkuk we see God using an evil nation to judge and correct His people! Let’s read the entire first chapter of this prophecy! We will likely see its ultimate fulfillment in the days ahead!
Saddened by the violence and corruption he saw around him, Habakkuk poured out his heart to the LORD!
Prior to Habakkuk’s ministry, sexual sin was being brought into the Temple and children were being sacrificed to pagan gods. There was also political chaos and threats of war! Does this sound familiar?
We see fornication, adultery, homosexuality, and abortion — the sacrifice of children, not only condoned, but accepted in many so called churches today, and practiced in the lives of those calling themselves Christians!
For true God fearing people these are unimaginable evils! Like Habakkuk, we cry out to God, How long will you allow this to go on?
Habakkuk 1:1-17
The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see. O LORD, how long shall I cry, and Thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto Thee of violence, and Thou wilt not save! Why dost Thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.
The LORD’S response to Habakkuk is that He is going to do an amazing work by using an evil and powerful nation to bring judgment and correction!
[5] Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you. For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs. They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves. Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat. They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it. Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god.

Habakkuk responds to what the LORD told him!
Art Thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, Thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, Thou hast established them for correction.
Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest Thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he? And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them? They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad. Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous. Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?
It’s hard to watch evil seem to prosper when we don’t understand God’s purposes —When we don’t understand that each person, and each nation has been strategically placed by Him!
In Psalm 2 David gives us the perspective from the throne of the LORD! Let’s go there with him and see Who is in control!
Psalm 2:1-5
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed, saying, Let us break Their bands asunder, and cast away Their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision. Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure.
Beloved, there is no doubt — None, that what our Omnipotent God has ordained will come to pass! We can trust Him!
Job knew though he was allowed to go through unimaginable pain, God was in control!
Job 42:2
I know that Thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from Thee.
Isaiah 14:27
For the LORD of Hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
Proverbs 19:21
There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
Be encouraged that no matter how the world around you looks, God is in control! Each person around you has been strategically placed for this time — The good and the evil!
And you have also been strategically placed here for this time! Knowing this hold fast to your faith, encourage others in the LORD, to walk in obedience and faithfulness until the end!
Let’s close with David’s Words, and remember — The counsel of the LORD will stand — His purposes will come to pass!
Psalm 33:10-22
The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: He maketh the devices of the people of none effect. The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance. The LORD looketh from heaven; He beholdeth all the sons of men. From the place of His habitation He looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. He fashioneth their hearts alike; He considereth all their works. There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the LORD: He is our Help and our Shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy Name. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in Thee.

Don’t Return Evil For Evil!
One of the most difficult things to do is to remain silent when you are attacked, especially when the attacks come from those you care about!
But the LORD asks us to do difficult things! Things that go against our flesh!
Instead of returning evil for evil, He tells us to overcome evil with good!
Romans 12:17-21
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the LORD. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
He goes even further — He tells us to bless those who curse us!
Romans 12:14
Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
Matthew 5:38-48
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
How can a person display this kind of restraint and selflessness? Only by His Spirit acting in us and through us!
Galatians 5:14-26
For all the law is fulfilled in one Word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
When hateful and hurtful things are said about us, especially when we know the person saying them is speaking lies, it will take surrendering our fleshly desire, in order not to say something hateful or hurtful in return!

Jesus is our example! He forgave the very ones He came to die for when they mocked Him, called Him names, said He did His works by Satan’s power, and ultimately crucified Him!
Matthew 12:24
But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
Matthew 10:24-25
The disciple is not above his Master, nor the servant above his LORD. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his Master, and the servant as his LORD. If they have called the Master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
Jesus proclaimed from the pain and agony of the cross — Father forgive them!
Luke 23:33-34
And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
Beloved, when we react in the flesh not only does it hurt us and our reputation as a Christian, it is disobedience to our LORD!
Our lives are meant to be living letters of recommendation!
2 Corinthians 3:1-3
Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
When we become angry and sin instead of turning the other cheek, we do not work the righteousness of God!
James 1:19-27
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the Word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Are we slow to anger? I’m not talking about the righteous anger we feel against sin that compels and requires us to speak out, but the anger for a wrong suffered against us personally!
Ecclesiastes 7:9
Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
Ephesians 4:22-27
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.
Do we bridle our tongue, or lash out in anger when we believe we’ve been wronged? Are we patient, and forgiving, or hot tempered and bitter?
Proverbs 22:24-25
Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
Proverbs 29:22-23
An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression. A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Do we have the heart of Jesus towards a lost and sinful world, or are we hardened of heart because of it?
May we examine our hearts today, and ask the LORD to forgive us for returning evil for evil, for lashing out at times in anger, and for being bitter and unforgiving!
Let Paul’s Words to the church at Philippi encourage us to not quench the Spirit, but to respond in love according to His will!
Philippians 2:3-16
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a Name which is above every Name: That at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the Word of Life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Will He Upbraid Or Praise?
What does the LORD see when He looks at churches today; at cities; at countries, and at our hearts? Would there be a Word of commendation, or a Word of rebuke? Would He upbraid or praise?
To upbraid is to rebuke, or criticize severely; to find fault with, and scold vehemently!
In Genesis we read that when the eyes of the LORD searched the earth, He saw so much wickedness that He was grieved that He created man!
Genesis 6:5-6
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart.
God sent His Son, Jesus because of His grace, mercy, and love! He came to offer salvation, and restoration with God!
Jesus’ life and ministry included many mighty works that confirmed the power and authority of God with Him — Yet many people did not believe He was Who He said He was! They refused to repent and accept Jesus as their Savior!
These were Jesus’ Words of rebuke to them!
Matthew 11:20-24
Then began He to upbraid the cities wherein most of His mighty works were done, because they repented not: Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
Even His disciples were upbraided for their unbelief, and hardness of heart, before He gave them their commission!
Mark 16:14-20
Afterward He appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen Him after He was risen. And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My Name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the LORD had spoken unto them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the LORD working with them, and confirming the Word with signs following. Amen.
David also felt the rebuke of the LORD when he had unconfessed sin in his life!
Psalm 6:1-2
O LORD, rebuke me not in Thine anger, neither chasten me in Thy hot displeasure. Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
Psalm 32:2-5
Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night Thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. I acknowledged my sin unto Thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and Thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.
Psalm 119:66-67
Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed Thy commandments. Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept Thy Word.

Revelation 3:19-22
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
So much of the corporate church and the individual body of Christ are walking in direct opposition to the Word of God! They are like the church of Laodicea, focused on their wealth, and worldly. They were also described as lukewarm, and it was so detestable to the LORD, He said He would spew them from His mouth!
Revelation 3:15-19
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Everything is laid bare before God’s eyes! We might fool others, even fool ourselves, but we can’t fool the LORD!
Hebrews 4:12-13
For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do.
As we examine our hearts and our lives today, and ask the LORD to speak to us, will He upbraid us or will we receive a Word of praise?

Tug of War!
Why would a people promised so many blessings from the LORD for obedience still choose sin and disobedience?
The answer is the lure of sin on our fleshly desires!
Romans 6:12-13,16
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. [16] Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Paul knew all to well that the struggle with sin did not go away when He was born again through faith in Jesus Christ!
Romans 7:19,24
For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. [24] O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I remember a skit I saw years ago that depicted a young girl’s struggle between good and evil!
The LORD on the one side pulling her toward Himself, and the enemy, and her flesh pulling her in the other direction! She was in a spiritual tug of war!
We have been given powerful weapons to help us in this spiritual battle beloved! The LORD hasn’t left us defenseless!
When we are born again, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell inside us! We can still give in to sin, and we will often do so, but we won’t continue in sin without grieving the Spirit in us!
Galatians 5:16-17,24-25
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. [24] And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
We must crucify our fleshly desires! We must say no to the temptation of sin! These temptations are used by the LORD to perfect us in Him!
James 1:2-4
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Yesterday, we talked about God upbraiding us for our sin, but here James uses that word again, and says that God won’t upbraid or rebuke us for asking for His wisdom in this life!
James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
We must take the thoughts and desires of our flesh captive! We can’t control what thoughts enter our mind, but we can control whether we entertain or act on them, or cast them down! We can say — No, I won’t think on that because it is contrary to God’s Word!
Psalm 119:11
Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee.
James 1:12-15
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the LORD hath promised to them that love Him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Our powerful weapons for this tug of war!
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

The armor of God is given to those who are born again!
Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
I’ve shared before that during a difficult time I told the LORD that I did not know how to trust Him, to rest, to be joyful or be at peace — He reminded me of His Words to Zerubbabel!
Zechariah 4:6
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the Word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the LORD of Hosts.
I then heard these Words — You can’t do it child, only My Spirit in you can!
Are you or someone you know in an especially difficult spiritual tug of war today? Take up all the weapons you’ve been given through His Spirit and use them! And having done all — Stand firm in your faith to the end!
The war will never let up, but rather, according to God’s Word, it will intensify! Dig your spiritual feet into the ground of His Word; walk by His Spirit, and stand fast!
Philippians 4:1
Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the LORD, my dearly beloved.

Protection From Psychological Manipulation!
I believe that when a person is grounded in their faith, with the knowledge that they have been created by a loving, omnipotent God, who is in control of everything that happens in the world and in their own life, it will much more difficult for them to be psychologically manipulated!
If one is feeling the world is out of control, and their own lives are out of control, they will look for answers and salvation from this loss of control in something or someone! Will it be God or man?
Chaos, and confusion are often used as a tactic by the enemy, just so that he can enter in as a false savior!
You might not have heard of Operation Trust, but it was a counterintelligence operation run in the Soviet Union from 1921 — 1926! The aim of this Psyop was to neutralize opposition by creating the false impression that a powerful group of military leaders had organized to stop the communists' takeover! This group would cause good to win out over evil!
Before we say that we could never fall for a Psyop, we must honestly admit that possibly we have done so!
When we look to man for what ails the world, or look to man to cause good to triumph over evil, we become vulnerable to being manipulated by false hope and promises!
As children of God, we are told not to put our trust in man, or in military might, but rather in the LORD! We are to call on Him in the day of trouble!
These are just a few of many scripture passages that tell us where our trust should be!
Psalm 20:1-9
The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the Name of the God of Jacob defend thee; Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. We will rejoice in Thy salvation, and in the Name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. Now know I that the LORD saveth His anointed; He will hear him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the Name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. Save, LORD: let the King hear us when we call.
2 Samuel 22:3,31
The God of my rock; in Him will I trust: He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my Saviour; Thou savest me from violence. [31] As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to all them that trust in Him.
Proverbs 3:5-7
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Jeremiah 17:5,7
Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. [7] Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
Have you taken your eyes off of the LORD? Have you placed your hope and trust in a man, in the military, or in a group?
Trusting in man instead of the LORD is not only dangerous, but it is disobedient!
What happens when everything you’ve been promised fails to happen? The goal posts for the false promises of salvation from evil, medical freedom, justice for evildoers, or whatever it is you desired just keep being moved again and again, and you are told to keep trusting!
On a personal level, if we aren’t secure in our value as a child of God, we can fall prey to this kind of manipulation by those we care about or who are in our lives! They can use guilt, projection, even flattery and a false love to manipulate us!
Beloved — We must stop trusting in man and turn our eyes to the LORD! We must ask Him to forgive us for looking for salvation from another, or for placing our hope in man!
God can and does use man, but He has told us our trust must be in Him not man! We have made so many idols of men!
