Speak well of your wife to her mother and father. Mention her good character, her patience, her efforts, and her kindness. Speak well of her to your own parents. Let them hear from your tongue words of gratitude and appreciation for her. Speak well of her to those whom she loves. For words travel, and praise carries wings. And when these words reach her, they do not merely reach her ears—they reach her heart. They settle within her chest as tranquillity, as reassurance, as happiness that cannot be measured.
A woman finds deep comfort in knowing that her honour is safe upon your tongue. She finds peace in knowing that the man she trusted does not expose her faults, but conceals them; does not belittle her, but elevates her; does not criticise her to others, but praises her goodness. This strengthens love, deepens affection, and builds a home upon mercy and honour rather than fear and insecurity.
Reflect upon the noble example of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and how he honoured the people in their absence. Al-Mughīrah ibn Shubayl reported that Jarīr ibn ʿAbdillāh said: When I approached Madinah, I made my camel kneel, then I unpacked my belongings, wore my finest garment, and entered the mosque while the Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon.
The people began looking at me closely. I said to the one sitting beside me: “O servant of Allah, has the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned anything about me?” He said: “Yes, he mentioned you with the best of praise. While he was delivering the sermon, he said: ‘A man from the best of the people of Yemen will enter upon you from this path, and upon his face is the mark of honour.’” Jarīr said: “So I praised Allah, Mighty and Majestic.” This was reported by Imām Aḥmad in his Musnad.
Look at this noble conduct. The Prophet ﷺ praised him before meeting him. He mentioned him with honour in his absence. He elevated him with words that brought joy to his heart before his eyes even saw him. This is the Sunnah—to honour people, to uplift them, and to speak good of them when they are not present.
So be a source of happiness for your wife with your tongue just as you are with your actions. Protect her honour. Praise her goodness. Mention her virtues. For a single sincere word spoken in her absence may bring more joy to her heart than many gifts placed in her hands.
And let it not be imagined that this advice is reserved for husbands alone—rather, it extends equally, and with equal beauty, to the wives. Yes, dear sister, this applies to you as well. Speak well of your husband in his absence. Mention him with honour to your family. Praise his efforts, his sacrifices, and the burdens he carries without complaint.
For the man walks into the world each day bearing responsibilities upon his shoulders, confronting its hardships, concealing his fatigue behind composure, and within his chest remains a quiet hope—a hope that in gatherings beyond his sight, his name is spoken with appreciation, not diminished for amusement nor offered as light conversation.
For even the strongest of hearts are nurtured by sincere praise, and even the firmest of souls find tranquillity in knowing their honour is protected. Words of appreciation do not merely please the ear—they settle into the heart as reassurance, as loyalty, as love made visible. And it is by this mutual guarding of honour, this mutual elevation through the tongue, that homes are fortified, love is deepened, and two souls become garments for one another—protecting, beautifying, and never exposing.

Ramaḍān: The Month the Qur’an Was Revealed — Do Not Be Deprived of Its Greatest Treasures!

Indeed, from that which is done in welcoming the great month of Ramaḍān is the utterance of that which our Messenger ﷺ taught us, as has come in the hadith of Ṭalḥah ibn ʿUbaydillāh with al-Tirmidhī and others, and in the hadith of ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿUmar and others, may Allah be pleased with them, with Ibn Ḥibbān: that the Messenger ﷺ, when he saw the crescent moon, he would say:
“O Allah, bring it over us with blessings and iman, and safety and Islam. My Lord and your Lord is Allah.”
This supplication is said upon the appearance of the crescent moon at the beginning of every month, and it is not specific to the crescent of Ramaḍān; however, it is from that which is done in Ramaḍān from the affairs that are given greater emphasis and stronger affirmation.

Likewise also, from that which is done in welcoming this noble month is that which has come in the hadith of Abū Hurayrah, may Allah, the Most High, be pleased with him, with al-Nasāʾī: that the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon, then he said in his sermon:
“Ramadan has come to you—a blessed month. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has obligated upon you its fasting. In it, the gates of the heaven are opened, and in it, the gates of Hellfire are closed, and in it, the rebellious devils are chained. For Allah, in it, is a night better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of its goodness has indeed been deprived.”
Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Rajab, may Allah have mercy upon him, said in his book Laṭāʾif al-Maʿārif: “Some of the scholars said: This hadith is a foundation regarding the congratulating of the people, some of them to others, with the month of Ramadan.”
And how can the Muslims not congratulate themselves upon the entrance of this noble month, while it is the month of iman, certainty, excellence, the Qur’an, forgiveness, and pleasure; within it are the various types of goodness in the immediate and the later.

My dear brothers and sisters,
From the widespread misunderstandings in our time is that many people assume that any food eaten before sleep, or any meal taken early in the night, is considered suḥūr. Thus, you find a person eating at 10 or 11 PM, then sleeping the entire night, thinking he has fulfilled the Sunnah of suḥūr, while in reality he has deprived himself of its legislated time and its immense blessing.
The scholars have clarified this matter with precision. Al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Nawawī, may Allah have mercy upon him, said in al-Majmūʿ (6/360): “The time of suḥūr is between the middle of the night and the emergence of dawn.”
And it is stated in Ḥāshiyat al-Dasūqī (1/515): “The time of suḥūr begins with the last half of the night, and the more it is delayed, the more virtuous it becomes.”
This clarification removes the confusion that has become common today, where suḥūr is treated as a cultural meal or mere habit rather than a legislated act of worship tied to a noble and blessed time. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ not only legislated suḥūr, but he encouraged it with emphatic encouragement and immense promise. He ﷺ said: “Take suḥūr, even if only with a sip of water.” And he ﷺ said: “The suḥūr is a blessed meal, so do not abandon it—even if one of you were to take only a sip of water, for indeed Allah and His angels send prayers upon those who take suḥūr.”
Reflect upon this tremendous virtue—Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and His noble angels, send prayers upon those who rise for suḥūr. What greater honour could a servant seek? And who is the one who would knowingly deprive himself of such divine favour?
And he ﷺ said to his companions: “Come to the blessed meal,” meaning the suḥūr. And he ﷺ said: “Take suḥūr, for indeed there is blessing in suḥūr.” This barakah is not limited to the body, but extends to the soul, the fast, the strength to worship, and the conformity to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
From his perfect guidance was that he would delay his suḥūr until close to Fajr. The companions, may Allah be pleased with them, reported that the time between his suḥūr and the adhān was equivalent to the recitation of fifty verses.
Yet today, this Sunnah has become from the neglected Sunnahs. Many people remain awake deep into the night in amusement, distraction, or sin, then eat before sleeping, thereby abandoning the blessed time which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself honoured. So follow his Sunnah ﷺ, and do not be from those who eat early and then sleep in heedlessness, assuming they have attained suḥūr, while its true time—and its true blessing—slips quietly beyond their reach.

📖 New Lesson Announcement:
إِحْيَاءُ السُّنَنِ وَإِمَاتَةُ الْبِدَعِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ
Reviving the Sunnah and Eliminating Innovations in the Month of Ramaḍān
✍️ Authored by the virtuous Shaykh Abū ʿAbd al-Aʿlā Khālid ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān al-Miṣrī, may Allah preserve him.
🎙 Read and translated live by: Abu Zakariyya Ahmed al-Hudaydi, may Allah forgive him, his parents, and all the Muslims.
My dear brothers and sisters, Ramaḍān is not merely a month that passes with the turning of days and nights. Rather, it is a sacred season in which the Sunnah must be revived within our lives, our homes, and our worship, and in which innovations must be abandoned and extinguished. For every innovation extinguishes a Sunnah, and every Sunnah revived brings life to the heart and nearness to Allah.
From the greatest ways of honouring this blessed month is to worship Allah upon clarity, following the guidance of His Messenger ﷺ in fasting, prayer, remembrance, and conduct—free from additions, distortions, and practices that were not legislated. For the true success of Ramaḍān is not merely in fasting, but in fasting upon the Sunnah, and not merely in worship, but in worship upon correctness and sincerity. For actions are not accepted except by two mighty foundations: sincerity to Allah alone, and conformity to the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ.
For this reason, we are pleased to announce this blessed lesson series, through which we will study this beneficial treatise that clarifies how the believer revives the Sunnah in Ramaḍān and distances himself from innovations. It will address widespread innovations that have become common in this noble month, presenting them with clarity, knowledge, and precision, upon the understanding of the righteous predecessors (al-Salaf al-Ṣāliḥ), so that the truth may be distinguished from falsehood, and the Sunnah from innovation. Through this, our fasting, our prayers, and our devotion may be established upon correctness—pure in intention and sound in practice—so that they are accepted by Allah and complete in their reward.
🕡 Live every Saturday and Sunday at 6:30 AM (GMT)
📺 On YouTube — The Ship of Salvation
We ask Allah to revive our hearts with the Sunnah, to distance us from innovation and misguidance, and to allow us to witness Ramaḍān while we are upon correctness, sincerity, and steadfastness.
