Food is an integral part of all of our events, and Awake on the Lake will certainly be no different! 🌊
We will be providing you with breakfast and dinner throughout your stay, and these will consist of delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes to ensure that we are inclusive of all dietary requirements 🥕🍏🧅
For breakfast, we will be serving a wide range of cereals with milk, apple pie porridge, toast and beans, and of course a range of fruit for you to help yourselves from. We will also have gluten free options available to anyone that requires them.
At dinner time, we will be serving up a delicious lentil bolognese for all the family, and a gorgeous chickpea and sweet potato curry for the adults. The children will also get a party buffet style dinner on the Saturday when we will be running the disco and party games 🥳
We will also have a pizza oven open for a period of time around lunchtime, where you can prepare a freshly made pizza with a range of yummy toppings. There will be a charge of £4 for these, and we just know that they will go down a treat 🙏🏼
We love to see the children and adults getting involved with chopping the vegetables and creating that real community feel. So please speak to a member of staff if you would like to get involved in preparing the meals, we will always find something for you to help with! ✨️

#Dancing can be used as a movement meditation to express, manifest, connect, experience frequencies of bliss and go beyond the boundaries of our consciousness. Dancing invites positive energy into our being and space, releases any pent up worry and stress and helps keep us in the present moment whilst breaking negative thought patterns. It is also a fun way to raise your vibration ✨️
Deep connections with the universe, the earth, with our own bodies and the people that surround us are possible through dance. Dancing can also be used as an enjoyable, yet powerful manifestation tool 🙏🏼
The combination of a raised vibration and a newly found spiritual connection, will ensure we shine our light even brighter and act like a magnet for manifestation. Dancing for the intention of healing, allows us to be able to feel the build up of energy within us, visualise, feel and really connect with it as it flows through the body. It is then possible to send this energy to the parts of the body that require healing. Through the moving of our bodies combined with the music, we are able to meditate, allowing our brain to settle and for the gap between thoughts to widen 🧘

We are so excited to be holding Biodanza with the amazing Altair, at our upcoming event, Awake on the Lake. Biodanza, is not just about dancing however! It is a guided process that helps us deepen our self expression and confidence, as well as connecting us with our childlike creativity and enjoyment. Biodanza, aligns and explores 5 lines or spheres: vitality, creativity, affectivity (heart/love connection) sexuality and transcendence (connecting with the Universe). Altair, is going to be doing a gentle introduction to Biodanza and if the flow of our dancing is not disturbed by the process of talking, it will bond the whole group, on a much deeper heart and soul level 💚

✨️ Meet the team ✨️
"Hey, my names Jay Edwards and I live on the outskirts of South East London, with my wifey and children. I work within both Roots to the Future, and Building New Earth. I developed the websites, and handle the day to day management of the sites back office, I also manage the customer support side of things. Beside that I do a bit of everything within the organisations, to support other team members, and further progress our vision. Having known Tom for many many years, I was honoured when he asked me to join him on this journey a few months ago 🙏🏼
Now to see how our team has grown from a few into a family of like minded, talented, forward thinking people, makes me proud to the core. I came to work at Roots firstly because a good friend, with an amazing dream came and asked me. I could see the dream, and the possibilities, and the opportunities to offer children and adults the chance to learn in a different way. The majority of us went through the national curriculum in some format, and I'm sure many of you as adults realise how outdated it is. They're not teaching our children to be responsible, self reflective, grounded, patient and understanding people. They're coaching them into being docile worker bees, who won't question why, or prod the hives outer shell. Too tentative, and afraid to challenge the status quo ❌️
At Roots we're not about that. We want questions, we want challenges, we want you to ask why. Critical thought, analytical processes, constructive debate, skill based practical learning is all needed in the modern world, seemingly that has been forgotten in this generation, ever reliant on the shiny mini computer in the hand. Instead, put the phone down, go and sit outside, walk in a field, pick up a ladybug, climb a tree, swim in a river, and ask yourself 'why' 🌳
Some of you will have spoken to me via email, or the website, and I'm sure I'll meet plenty of you at our events. Thanks for taking the time to read this, I'm not one for talking about myself often, but Tommy has made me realise, we need to just put ourselves out there.
