UK Food Crisis: Schools Told to STOCKPILE Tinned Food Amid Fears of Shortages (Report)
A leading caterer has written to hundreds of schools warning them of problems with “sourcing, packing and distribution” of food supplies. (ITV News)
ISS, one of the largest canteen suppliers in the UK, advised school catering staff to bulk up on “tinned, dried and frozen foods” to ensure children are properly fed over the winter.
The warnings come amid concerns of a 1978-style ‘Winter of Discontent’ with an extreme shortage of HGV drivers, a nationwide panic-buying spree at petrol stations and a growing concern that supermarket shelves could remain barren beyond Christmas.
