steps to do this without the annoying update me popup that appears every 5 seconds
go to about:config , disable app.update values to false
add a distribuition folder in the install directory and add a single policies.json with this value {"policies": {"DisableAppUpdate": true}}
its a policy template
use about:support to find your install dir and the update folder to delete the already downloaded updates
set app.update.url.details and app.update.url.manual to example.com to fuck with it more
then takeown the update folder and deny system from having control
no more green dot or update modal
