We humans can be incredibly greedy.

Throughout history, people have done things that are difficult to understand. In Ethiopia, there were times when parents sold their own children into slavery. In some places, young girls were married off to wealthy men. In parts of Africa and other regions of the world, children have been killed or exploited for profit and superstition.

When I read these stories, I struggle to understand why. How can people harm those they are supposed to love and protect?
It makes me wonder: Is this who we really are as human beings?
Or is it evidence of what happens when greed, power, and selfishness overcome our humanity?

I don't get it.
