A senior Israeli military intel officer ignored a detailed warning predicting Hamas’ raid on Oct 7, calling it an “imaginary scenario”, the Financial Times reports - citing two people familiar with the discussions.
Israeli border sentry officers monitoring activity near Gaza sent a report containing specific security alerts – including training to blow up several fence posts and plans to take over kibbutzim – just weeks before the incident to the very highest-ranking officer of the southern command, the report noted.
Analysis of several videos showed Hamas was rehearsing taking hostages, the report writer stated, adding they felt an attack was imminent – due to the presence of a high-ranking Hamas military commander overseeing training.

Israel only agreed to temporarily halt hostilities in Gaza due to its losses on the battlefield “suffered in its extensive ground offensive and air attacks,” Islamic Jihad’s Sec-Gen said.
“The truce clearly showed admitting defeat. Had it not been for the losses on the battlefield, Zionist regime would not have agreed to the cease-fire agreement and the exchange of prisoners,” al-Nakhala stated.

"Israel holds over 8,000 Palestinians in detention, 2,000 of those are held in what’s called administrative detention, which means they are held without charge or trial, 200 of them are children as young as 12," the director of Palestine Solidarity Campaign explained to Sky News.
