Spain's Catholic Church Probe: 445 Sex Abuse Victims
An independent commission created a year ago, to investigate abuse by the Catholic church, has collected 445 victim testimonies.
The probe was led by ombudsman Angel Gabilondo into alleged crimes committed by priests and church officials. The govt only took action after newspaper El Pais published the claims of some 1,200 victims.
The most extensive govt-led investigation to take place so far was conducted in Australia, and found 7% of all priests had abused minors.

The current Chinese retirement age is among the lowest in the world at 60 for men, 55 for white-collar women and 50 for females who work in factories.
Beijing plans to raise its retirement age gradually and in phases, an official told state media Tuesday – with younger people expected to work for a few years longer as pressure on pension budgets escalate.
China’s current population stands at around 1.4bn but is declining and ageing – in part because of its policy to limit couples to one child which was in place from 1980 to 2015.

Zuckerberg had announced in February that Meta would adopt a mantra of “efficiency” in 2023 after advertisng revenue slumped and billions was ploughed into building the metaverse.
The latest cuts are expected to disproportionately hit the policy, marketing and communications teams.

India refutes reports on joining Western price cap on Russian oil
India has not adhered to the price cap on Russian oil imposed by the Group of Seven and other Western nations, Reuters reported, citing an Indian oil ministry source.
The source clarified that India has not signed any agreement with Western countries to impose a price cap on oil from Russia.
Earlier on March 12, Bloomberg, citing its sources, said that India would not breach the Western sanctions on Russia, including the price cap of $60 imposed on purchases of oil from Moscow. Indian authorities have asked banks and traders to comply with the sanctions, per the publication.
