Epstein's accusers could therefore show that JPMorgan "actually knew" about the venture or "recklessly disregarded" its existence, Judge Jed Rakoff noted.
Staley denies the allegations, but JP Morgan is separately suing him to cover losses in the two lawsuits it faces, and forfeit eight years of pay.

One of the pioneers of artificial intelligence – Geoffrey Hinton – has quit his job at Google so that he can 'speak freely about the dangers of AI'.
Hinton was concerned over AI's capacity to create convincing false images and texts, creating a world where people will "not be able to know what is true anymore". Warning, "It is hard to see how you can prevent the bad actors from using it for bad things”.
The technology could quickly displace workers and become a greater danger as it learns new behaviours, Hinton added.

Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Bureau of the Office of the President of Poland, admitted that Warsaw could demand reparations from Moscow. But first they need to get them from Germany.
“We believe that we can start a dialogue with Berlin, but with Putin, this is a different civilization. Once success is achieved with Germany, the next step could be to start such a discussion with another oppressor,” Przydacz told the Financial Times.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, said that Moscow has the right to break off diplomatic relations with Warsaw
