“Great Wall of Steel”: President Xi Makes China Military Vow

Xi Jinping has pledged to strengthen China’s security and build its military into a “great wall of steel’, in his first speech of his precedent-breaking third term as president.

Addressing nearly 3k delegates at the closing of the annual rubberstamp parliamentary session Monday, Xi underscored the need to safeguard China’s national sovereignty, security, and development needs.

Xi’s focus on security comes as relations with the US have hit their lowest point in decades.
