U.S. Doubles Uranium Imports from Russia
Nearly half of the world’s enriched uranium is produced in Russia, and U.S. efforts to reduce its reliance on imports from the country have so far failed.
The U.S. bought 416 tons in the first half of the year, more than double the amount for the same period in 2022. This number is also the highest level since 2005.
Calculations show the U.S. paid $696.5 million for uranium deliveries from Russia, marking the highest value since 2002.

Strong winds forced a P&O ship across Palma harbour - pushing it into a freight vessel and onto rocks, before being hauled back into position by tug boats.
Passengers were told to assemble at emergency points on the Britannia, while being told, "this is not a drill", by the captain after they heard a loud bang and saw debris floating in the water.
