General Abdourahmane Tchiani warned that any military intervention in 🇳🇪 ‘will not be a walk in the park’ for those involved after meeting an ECOWAS delegation in Niamey.

He gave no details on the potential transition during an address to the nation Saturday night – revealing only that the principles for the move would be decided within 30 days.

Tchiani also declared that ECOWAS was “getting ready to attack Niger by setting up an occupying army in collaboration with a foreign army” and lambasted what he called “illegal” and “inhuman” sanctions imposed by the regional bloc.

🚩 US Marine Trainee Killed During Live-Fire Infantry Training Drill

The trainee was shot and killed in a nighttime live-fire training exercise held by the Marine Corps’ School of Infantry-West at its Camp Pendleton base in California.

The deceased has been identified as Lance Cpl Joseph Whaley, 20, who was in his fourth week of 13 in an entry-level reconnaissance course.

Information on the exact chain of events that led to Whaley’s death are part of an ongoing investigatory probe, and as such was not immediately available to the public, a Marines spox said.

The death comes at a time when the US has no Senate-confirmed leaders in three military branches – Marines Corps, Navy and Army – for the first time in its history.
