🇩🇪's Frankfurt Airport had to curtail operations as heavy rain lashed down on the city with dozens of flights canceled with some passengers left unable to disembark from aircraft that had already arrived due to flooding.

Around 70 flights were canceled with a further 20 diverted – it is estimated over a thousand passengers were affected by the disruption.

⚠️Race to Evacuate Canadian City as Wildfires Approach

The 20,000 residents of Yellowknife, the capital of the Northwest Territories, have been given until noon Friday to leave.

🇨🇦’s Northwest Territories declared a state of emergency late on Tuesday as it battles more than 200 wildfires.

Shane Thompson, the region's environment minister, told a press conference Wednesday that the fires had "taken another turn for the worse" and now represented a "real threat" to Yellowknife - located 250 miles below the Arctic Circle.

Police have arrested four suspects for arson in Yellowknife with two other people sought.
