The Carola Bridge in Dresden has collapsed in a 'deafening bang' - with investigators frantically trying to find the cause.
Footage shows the bridge plunging into the Elbe river - just minutes after a tram had crossed.
Officials warned that other parts of the bridge could yet come crashing down, and have sealed off the bridge and surrounding area, causing major disruption.
Incredibly, nobody was on or under the bridge at the time of the incident.

Israeli special forces carried out a raid on an Iranian weapons facility in the Masyaf area in Syria earlier this week, according to a number of local reports.
A series of Israeli strikes hit sites in central Syria late Sunday, killing at least 14 people, wounding 43 and sparking fires.
Three helicopters were reportedly involved in the mission - two provided air cover while one landed troops. Israeli commandos then entered the facility, killed guards, and captured 2-4 Iranian experts. (Syria TV)
The IDF responded with “no comment” when questioned about the raid on Thursday.
