⚠️ UK Court Set to Consider Last-Ditch Appeal by Julian Assange Fighting US Extradition

A two-day hearing in London’s high court will consider whether Australian-born Assange, who has been held in Belmarsh prison for almost five years, can be granted leave to appeal against an extradition decision made in 2022 by the then home secretary, Priti Patel.

Assange has requested to appear in court in person but is expected to appear via video link from Belmarsh.

His wife, Stella Assange, said: “His life is at risk every single day he stays in prison. If he’s extradited, he will die.”

❗️Argentina’s Poverty Levels Hit 20-Year High in January

Poverty levels in Argentina skyrocketed to 57.4% of the nation’s 46mn people in January, according to a study by the Catholic University of Argentina.

The study found about 27mn people in Argentina are poor, and 15% of those are in “destitution”, meaning they cannot adequately cover their food needs.

It concluded that middle-class households that do not receive benefits through social programs experienced the most significant impact.
