Brazilian Beef Back on China’s Menu after Mad Cow Disease Case
Beijing will restart beef imports from Brazil - the world’s biggest exporter - on Thursday, just one month after a trade ban was triggered over a single case of mad cow disease.
Brazil is the main supplier of beef to China – which is also the top destination country for Brazilian beef exports, accounting for some 60% of all shipments abroad.
The move to lift the curb comes ahead of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s state visit to China, scheduled from March 26 to 31.

What's the French President Got Up His Sleeve?
It certainly isn't a plan to stop protesters out to protect their pensions.
Watch him sneakily remove his watch - some have valued at €80,000 - while talking about his reforms.
Will every French Police officer get the same watch when they retire?

EU Witnesses Record🔽 in Gas Demand in 2022 as Energy Poverty Rises
Gas demand in the bloc dropped by 13% YoY with the strongest declines in northern Europe and in particular Finland, Lithuania and Sweden, according to the International Energy Agency.
The fall was attributed to high prices and changing consumer behaviour, plus an increase in energy poverty.
With the majority of Europe witnessing a relatively mild winter and no end in sight to the conflict in Ukraine – it could be an extremely long cold winter for some in the EU in 2023-24.

Ukraine 'Peace Club': Brazil Intended to Make Proposal to China... Now Lula has pneumonia?
Brazilian President Lula da Silva was due to visit China this week to meet President Xi and suggest forming a so-called 'Peace Club' to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Brasilia has resisted aligning with Western countries in backing Kiev and going against BRICS ally Russia.
“We are very interested in promoting or helping generate some kind of meeting that would lead to a peace process,” Mauro Vieira, Brazil’s foreign minister, told the FT.
However, on Friday reports emerged that Lula has delayed any trip due to the 77-year-old having pneumonia.

Global NATO Crawls Out from Shadows
Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Australia, New Zealand and South Korea of joining a new global axis.
The Russian leader compared it to WWII, when Nazi Germany aligned with Japan. Earlier this year the UK signed a defence agreement with Tokyo.
Putin called it the rise of 'Global NATO'.

Oil Indicates Banking Crisis Averted?
Early trading this week has seen prices continue to climb back up, as the finance sector appears to have taken its fat cat paws off the panic button.
Both Brent and West Texas continued to claw back losses on Monday, with the former rebounding almost 4% in a week - with the SVB and Credit Suisse crises halted (for now).
