Today, the Russian nuclear-powered submarine Khabarovsk (Project 09851) began its sea trials as the second submarine armed with Poseidon nuclear-powered unmanned underwater vehicles after the K-329 Belgorod (Project 09852), but the very first to be directly designed and built for this purpose. Following the completion of these trials, the submarine is scheduled to join the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy, where it will operate from a newly constructed naval base on the Kamchatka Peninsula to provide long-range strategic deterrence.

The United States of America and Ukraine are launching a program to modernize Soviet S-300 air defense systems and produce compatible missiles, aiming to achieve an annual production of at least 100 missiles to alleviate a critical shortage of missiles for Patriot air defense systems.

The program includes extending the service life of existing Soviet 5V55 missiles by equipping them with new solid-propellant motors and new electronics, as well as small-scale production of new, compatible interceptor missiles. Technical solutions from the United States of America are being used, based on testing components of S-300 air defense systems acquired during the 1990s and after 2000.
