Colourised photograph of Margaret Frances Skinnider (28 May 1892 – 10 October 1971). Skinnider was a revolutionary and feminist born in Coatbridge. She was a member of the Anne Devlin Branch of Cumann na mBan in Glasgow and smuggled explosives and detonators to Dublin prior to the Rising. She later fought in the Rising in Dublin as a sniper, among other roles, and was badly wounded after being shot by British forces. She was praised for her bravery. She later recovered and held the rank of Quartermaster General of the IRA during the Civil War.
