this looks like a very good find for our group Jim! I have been reading the book VP gave us (The Shining Ones) and this ties in with that. In The Shining Ones angelics seeded a first civilization that they wiped by flood and shut down their nearby base Eden, subsequently the angelics seemed to go out by ones and twos around the world everywhere except Ireland where it seemed like many angelics created another base and were called the Tuatha de Danann. My dad and his friend filmed themselves driving around Dublin city centre on 4th of September 1976. They drove down Grafton Street and up by Dame Street by the central bank (still being built) then down past Trinity College and up to the top of O'Connell street. Check out the flares and 1970s cars

Victoria (later Kennedy) Quay, Cork, 1902 - Restored and in colour
One of the 1902 Mitchell and Kenyon films filmed around the time of the Cork international exhibition, this film shows the busy Cork docklands lined with steamships. Much has changed in this area in recent years, but there are also many familiar sights. In the distance, you can just about spot Shandon, along with what looks like the chimney of Thompsons bakery on McCurtain Street. These are followed by Horgan's Quay and a beautiful vista of Montenotte.

The man in the hat that the camera seems to be following is part of the production. His role was to invite people to appear on camera, the goal being to then entice them to local screenings of the films shot in the city. His pickings are slim in this case, but we'll see a cameo from him again in some of the other films.

Patrick Street 1900, The oldest film of Cork City
This film pre-dates the Mitchell & Kenyon films by a full 2 years. In it, we see the hustle and bustle of St. Patrick's Street, Cork City at the dawn of the 20th Century. Most notably, the Cork electric trams, introduced just over a year before, in December 1898, can be seen gliding along the thoroughfare surrounded by a large variety of horse-drawn vehicles. The trams, which were discontinued in 1931 due to competition from the internal combustion engine, are seen for the first time since then in their original livery, green and cream.

The film has been stabilised, cleaned, given a frame rate boost and colourised. The results do lose some detail, but offer something that is perhaps closer to the real scene as it happened over 120 years ago.
