Among the photos of late Qing dynasty Beijing, we found a photo of a non-standard tower - a classic Chinese roof resting on a huge, massive building with thick walls. By the way, the photos, to the misfortune of historians, were signed - Tower of the Tartarian Walls.

And where, excuse me, the wall itself? It is frightening to imagine how big it must have been, if one of its towers looks like an armored wall. How was such a miracle erected, and why is the roof of the ancient building overgrown with shrubs?
