Are Mayo politicians playing the people? Saying one thing and doing another? In January, councillors from @MayoCoCo hit the headlines for defying Minister @rodericogorman and the government by passing a motion to cease co-operation on housing refugees and IPAS applicants.

We at the Irish Inquiry pointed out at the time that it may have been a move that was more about retaining seats than it was about doing right by their constituents. Seems we were right.

A meeting for concerned citizens in Ballaghaderreen heard that elderly residents are now afraid to do their shopping in the town due to incidents of being harassed by foreigners and having their money stolen.

"And because these people that done it —and we know who done it— are underage, our guards won't do anything about it, and they also won't say what nationality they are because they don't want to be called out as racist."

The meeting was called to oppose government plans to construct 47 modular homes beside Oakwod Private Nursing Home for the accommodation of 206 migrants.

Government's immigration policies described as a plantation at meeting for concerned citizens in Ballaghaderreen.

"These landowners who have offered these sites, these are members of our communities that are willing to sell us down the river."

"Now, this is a plantation of some fucking description I don't know, and it's only Irish people that can change it."

"What we're going to end up with —and we can see it coming down the line— we're ending up with ghettos."

"That's already happened in Ballaghaderreen. We can't even let our kids walk the town."

There were allegations made by two locals at the meeting for concerned citizens in Ballaghaderreen on Wednesday that busloads of foreigners have been arriving in the town in a surreptitious fashion.

One local man ssaid you can see them being dropped off if you sit in the town square at one o'clock at night.

"...and they disappear, and they're gone to houses."

Former councillor Michael Scally said the buses are arriving from Belfast.

"...but there are loads and loads of people coming down from Belfast in here to Ballaghaderreen and there seems to be no garda looking out as to whether they're legitimate or not, and that has to stop now."

In the old Celtic calendar, today is Sheelah’s Day. In ancient Ireland, it was an annual festival to honour the fertility Goddess known as Sheela-na-gig. Naked Sheela-na-gig figures appeared in Irish churches constructed before the 16th century, but most were defaced or destroyed during the prudish Victorian age.

According to some sources, the origins of ‘drowning the shamrock’ have also been traced to this date. In the eighteenth century, William Hone reported on the celebrations surrounding Sheelah, who has been variously identified as the wife, mother, or other relative of St Patrick – noting that, the people of the day ‘are not so anxious to determine who ‘Sheelah’ was, as they are earnest in her celebration. All agree that her immortal memory is to be maintained by potations of whiskey.’ At the end of the day, the faithful would then take their shamrocks and drop them into their respective glasses before downing the contents.

These retards, who want you jailed for noises that come from your face-hole, deserve NOTHING but contempt.

It's been pointed out to me a few times where RTÉ now edit existing reports with a tiny 'updated' flag but completely change the content, like in this case where they removed all evidence it was they who promoted today's NGO protest in the first place.

Worth pointing out because we heard a RollingNews editor tell Newstalk last week that national media outlets are deliberately ignoring protests against asylum seekers being dumped in communities around the country in the hope they "go away."

Newstalk's Barry Whyte reported the NGOs got around 100 people out to their protest today which is about the same number of locals who protested against an old Tayto factory being converted into a plantation centre in Coolock yesterday. RTÉ didn't cover that protest but they advertised the NGO one today.
