In this vintage newsreel the Ulster v Eire story focuses on Lord Craigavon and Eamon De Valera.
The Irish Free State had the status of dominion until 1937 when a new constitution was adopted, in which the state was named "Ireland" and effectively became a republic. At the same time it laid claim to the territory of Northern Ireland. This film looks at the likelihood of Northern ireland wishing to unite with the South.
