Após mais de uma década de escavações arqueológicas, um impressionante mosaico de 1.600 anos, que retrata o herói bíblico Sansão, está finalmente em exibição na Galileia, norte de Israel. O mosaico faz parte da exposição “Secrets of Law” (Segredos da Lei).

Descoberto nas ruínas de uma antiga sinagoga em Hukok, perto do Mar da Galileia, o mosaico data dos séculos IV ou V. Ele retrata cenas diretamente do Livro dos Juízes, incluindo Sansão carregando os portões de Gaza e amarrando tochas às caudas de raposas.

A sinagoga era utilizada pela comunidade judaica durante o período talmúdico, quando os impérios Romano e Bizantino governavam a região. A cidade de Hukok, onde era localizada, era uma vila com nascente, instalações agrícolas, banhos rituais (mikvaot) e até uma rede subterrânea secreta de fuga.

As raízes do povo judeu na região são profundas: uma história de extraordinária criação artística e a de toda uma comunidade cuja vida girava em torno da sinagoga.

Há 54 anos, em 5 de setembro de 1972, ocorria um dos momentos mais sombrios do esporte mundial: o ataque terrorista contra a equipe israelense nos Jogos Olímpicos de Verão em Munique, na Alemanha.

Oito integrantes do grupo terrorista palestino Setembro Negro invadiram os alojamentos da delegação israelense e fizeram 11 integrantes (atletas, treinadores, árbitros e funcionários) reféns. Após atirarem em dois deles, os terroristas iniciaram uma negociação de 24 horas com policiais da Alemanha Ocidental.

Os nove reféns restantes foram mortos em uma operação de resgate entre a polícia e os terroristas no aeroporto de Fürstenfeldbruck, perto de Munique. A polícia alemã matou cinco terroristas em tiroteio.

Somente 44 anos depois, nos Jogos Olímpicos de 2016, no Rio de Janeiro, o Comitê Olímpico Internacional realizou uma cerimônia oficial em homenagem às vítimas.

Mais de 50 anos depois, lembramos as vítimas do massacre de Munique e suas famílias que ficaram devastadas. Sua memória não será esquecida.

Depois de muitas entidades judaicas condenarem a homenagem que o Instituto de Moda do Museu Metropolitano de Arte de Nova York faria ao estilista francês John Galliano, ela foi cancelada, segundo anunciou o Met na segunda-feira (31).

As críticas à homenagem ocorreram por conta do histórico de declarações antissemitas e racistas de Galliano, feitas em 2011. O próprio estilista pediu pelo cancelamento.

"Poucas vezes vi alguém pedir desculpas e, de fato, se responsabilizar pelo erro", diz a diretora de Educação da StandWithUsBrasil, Deborah Chammah.

Galliano disse que segue responsável pela dor que causou às comunidades judaica e asiática. E que a reparação de verdade não se resolve com uma exposição ou com um gesto público único, mas com uma conduta contínua.

🚨BREAKING: Israeli security forces have apprehended a Hamas terrorist cell of 10 terrorists who were actively planning attacks against Israeli civilians.

During the operation, a rocket was located and following interrogation, one of the terrorists revealed the location of a weapons cache containing an M16 rifle and a large quantity of explosives intended for manufacturing explosive devices.

All weapons and explosives were dismantled on the spot.
