More than 10 million people worldwide suffer from inflammatory bowel disease - conditions like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis that cause chronic inflammation, pain, and in severe cases, hospitalization or surgery. Most current treatments target the immune system. But what if that's been addressing the wrong thing entirely?

Researchers at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel have discovered that the tissue surrounding intestinal cells - not just the immune system - retains a lasting "memory" of past inflammation, and can trigger the disease to return even after patients appear to have recovered. Crucially, the team identified a specific protein called collagen 18 as a key driver of this process - and found that blocking it in mice prevented chronic inflammation from developing.

A fala veio depois que um vídeo em parceria com o projeto This Is Beirut viralizou nas redes. Nele, Ryan convida civis libaneses para tomar cerveja em Tel Aviv ou beber arak (bebida tradicional do Levante) em Jaffa. O vice-prefeito de Tel Aviv, Guy Avner, também aparece dizendo que é “só uma questão de tempo” até a paz entre israelenses e libaneses.

Ryan também afirmou que recebe mensagens de muçulmanos xiitas e de pessoas de diferentes grupos no Líbano que querem alternativas ao Hezbollah. Para ela, muitos libaneses passaram a entender que o Hezbollah não representa o Líbano, mas sim os interesses do regime iraniano contra Israel a partir do território libanês.

De acordo com a analista, esse sentimento cresceu após a morte de Hassan Nasrallah (ex-chefe do Hezbollah), quando parte da população percebeu que o grupo terrorista não estava protegendo os libaneses, mas arrastando o país para uma guerra que não era deles.

Quando o medo cala quem quer paz, convém lembrar quem impede que essa paz floresça: organizações terroristas e regimes que lucram com a guerra.

As Jewish students headed back to campuses across North America and around the world amid a surge in antisemitism, a 98-year-old Holocaust survivor has a message for them - and it is one of pride, not fear.

Nate Leipciger, who was 15 years old when the Nazis deported him from the ghetto to Auschwitz-Birkenau - where he was separated from his mother and sister, whom he never saw again - has written a personal letter being distributed to hundreds of thousands of Jewish students worldwide through the International March of the Living.

The letter was distributed on September 1 - the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II. Leipciger has participated in the March of the Living 22 times, more than any other Holocaust survivor from the Diaspora - and at 98, he walked from Auschwitz to Birkenau this past April for the 22nd time.

"O taekwondo me ajudou a me preparar para enfrentar as ameaças dos talibãs, porque você aprende a aguentar lutar até o final, a ter disciplina, a brigar pelos seus direitos", disse.

Sobre ser a voz de inúmeras mulheres que têm seus direitos básicos negados por regimes tiranos, Marzieh disse que tem uma missão clara: usar o esporte como plataforma para lutar pelos direitos femininos no Irã e no Afeganistão.

🚨 The U.S. Justice Department struck a significant blow against Hamas's terror financing network. Across court-authorized operations spanning 2025 and 2026, the FBI confiscated more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency. The funds came from Hamas supporters directed via encrypted platforms to a dedicated fundraising site using constantly changing cryptocurrency addresses.
The FBI also seized the domains and servers controlling the online hub used for raising money. Through this, investigators identified thousands of individuals who reached out to Hamas online in order to donate, a trove of leads that will fuel ongoing counterterrorism work.
