Today marks two years since the IDF recovered Ori Danino, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Carmel Gat, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi, and Eden Yerushalmi, z"l, six hostages who were brutally murdered by Hamas in August 2024 after 328 days in captivity.

In September 2024, the IDF released footage of a Hamas terror tunnel in Rafah, Gaza, showing the tragic site where six hostages, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Carmel Gat, Almog Sarusi, Ori Danino, and Alexander Lobanov, were brutally murdered by Hamas.

Hoje (31) faz dois anos desde que as Forças de Defesa de Israel (IDF) recuperaram os corpos de Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Ori Danino, Carmel Gat, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi e Eden Yerushalmi, seis reféns brutalmente assassinados pelo grupo terrorista Hamas em agosto de 2024, após 328 dias em cativeiro.

Eles foram sequestrados em 7 de outubro de 2023, no massacre no sul de Israel. Cinco foram levados do festival de música Nova e um do Kibutz Be’eri. Eles foram mantidos em túneis na Faixa de Gaza, até serem brutalmente assassinados a tiros pelo Hamas pouco antes da chegada das tropas da IDF (possivelmente apenas um ou dois dias antes de serem encontrados).

Após suportarem os horrores do cativeiro por quase um ano, os seis jovens inocentes foram friamente assassinados. A memória deles jamais será esquecida.

Aviva foi libertada após 51 dias. Keith permaneceu refém por 484 dias. Segundo o casal, meninas e mulheres mantidas em cativeiro foram espancadas, abusadas sexualmente, privadas de comida e submetidas a tortura física e psicológica.

Aviva contou que chegou a desejar morrer diante do sofrimento que via e vivia. Keith, por sua vez, foi mantido por meses em condições brutais, marcado pela fome, ameaças e violência.

O relato reforça o que sobreviventes, famílias e investigações vêm denunciando há quase três anos: o Hamas não apenas sequestrou civis. O grupo terrorista transformou o cativeiro em instrumento de tortura, humilhação e terror.

O mundo não pode tratar esses testemunhos como detalhe. Cada refém que voltou carrega marcas de uma violência que não terminou no dia da libertação.

The world of science is mourning the loss of Prof. Ada Yonath, one of Israel's most celebrated scientists, who passed away at the age of 87.

Yonath was a pioneer in the study of the ribosome - the tiny cellular structure responsible for protein production - and her groundbreaking research transformed our understanding of one of life's most fundamental processes, paving the way for the development of new antibiotics and life-saving medicines.

When she began her research, much of the scientific community believed her goal was impossible. She and her colleagues conducted approximately 25,000 experiments before successfully creating the first ribosome crystals - a feat that ultimately earned her the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2009, as well as the Israel Prize.

She continued to research, publish, and run an active laboratory at the Weizmann Institute of Science until her final days. The Weizmann Institute paid tribute to her, saying: "She showed generations of scientists what can be achieved when you dare to ask big questions and refuse to give up on the relentless search for answers." Nascida em Jerusalém, Ada trabalhava no Instituto Weizmann de Ciências, no Departamento de Biologia Estrutural e Química, onde foi pioneira no estudo do ribossomo, estrutura celular responsável pela produção de proteínas.

A cientista recebeu o Nobel de Química em 2009 por suas pesquisas que ajudaram a revelar o funcionamento do ribossomo e contribuíram para o desenvolvimento de tratamentos contra bactérias resistentes a antibióticos.

Sua memória jamais seja esquecida.
