Today we'll talk about Nominated Proof-of-Stake
Unlike Proof-of-Work, or the usual Proof-of-Stake, in a Nominated Proof-of-Stake you don't need any computer hardware at all. This is a completely "plug and forget" passive income.
What to do?
-Choose a validator that will process transactions, in other words, nominate him. By choosing a good validator, you increase his rating, which attracts new nominees.
-Staking cryptocurrency from him, you get % of the staked amount, the total pool of the stake, and other factors.
Example on Polkadot:
-We buy 1000 DOT
-Select a validator
-Stake DOT
-Get % and do not forget to collect it every time period
Calculation:
-1000 DOT = $5,140 USD
-We receive 13.78% per year from the staked amount. It depends on how many percent of tokens are staked out of the total amount of issued tokens.
-Our income is 137 DOT per year, or $705 USD, given that one DOT costs $5.14 USD. But if we stake, we expect the price of the token to rise in the future.
Conclusion:
Nominated Proof-of-Stake looks like a very attractive source of income for the future, especially when you consider that this is passive income and the price of the cryptocurrency you stake may rise. The entry threshold depends on the cryptocurrency and its staking rules.
