Even with this fakeness though there is still far more freedom and security from the government than in China. It's also possible still for exceptional individuals to carve out your own little area you can basically do whatever you want in and you can remain resistant to outside pressure, like Mel Gibson. The American elite still actually want to live in America though.

One of the quickest ways to judge a country is to judge how its own rich people feel about it, if they're looking for any opportunity they can get to leave that country sucks. Why anyone would look to it as a model nation is mind-boggling.
