I've never seen low church prots have a strip mall property with any sense of design or coherency to it. In every case it's clear they started with a list of things not to include (no crucifix, no pictures of people) got a couple ideas from the pastor (let's put a drawing of a map on the wall, make sure to put the podium dead center of the room too so everyone can see me preach, I think the guy who carpeted the library can put carpet in here too) and then quickly ran out of ideas with what to do with all of the empty areas (lol let's just put a bunch of flat screen TVs in the corners, maybe a flag).

Go to a Catholic church and the priest can explain why everything is laid out in a particular way, how different relics and artifacts within the building connect in to the thousands of years of apostolic history of the Church, you can look at beautiful stained glass windows that depict scenes from the Bible in ways even an illiterate can understand, the design serves a liturgical function, etc. You can feel an actual connection to history, not like you've accidentally stumbled into one of those 8 hour meetings on why you should buy a timeshare that promise you a free vacation if you make it to the end.
