🇬🇪 The Unconquered Queen — The Unconquered Nation
In 1803, when the Russian Empire forcibly annexed Georgia, the royal family was ordered to be exiled to Russia. But Queen Mariam, the wife of Georgia’s last king, George XII, refused to bow to the occupiers. When General Lazarev burst into her chambers, he tore the crown — the symbol of Georgian statehood — from her head and contemptuously trampled it underfoot.
Yet the queen did not lower her head. She drew a dagger and struck the intruder straight in the heart. That was Georgia’s answer — a woman who could not endure the humiliation of her homeland.
More than two centuries have passed, but the spirit of that queen still lives today — in the hearts of Georgian volunteers who stand shoulder to shoulder with their Ukrainian brothers against the very same enemy.
When the enemy tramples our sacred ground, we do not retreat. When they try to break our dignity — we respond with honor, loyalty, and defiance.
The Georgian Legion in Ukraine are the direct heirs of that spirit. We carry in our veins the same blood that once drove Queen Mariam to raise her dagger for the honor of Georgia.
And today, that dagger is our weapon, our faith, and our freedom.
