🇨🇺 CIA: Cuba faces deep economic crisis, but regime collapse uncertain

The CIA has assessed that Cuba’s political and economic situation is severe but stopped short of supporting President Donald Trump’s claim that the island is “close to collapse” following recent events in Venezuela, Reuters reports, citing sources familiar with classified intelligence.

Key sectors of the Cuban economy, including agriculture and tourism, are suffering due to widespread power outages, sanctions, and logistical breakdowns. The loss of oil and other critical support from longtime ally Venezuela is expected to further strain Havana’s ability to manage the crisis.

While the agency acknowledges growing internal pressure, it does not currently foresee an imminent collapse of the Cuban government.
