๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸฆฐAshley: Well, um, there's your family; that's four people. [ Okay. ] There are three from my work [ Okay. ], and then Mike and Megan from across the street. And you and me, of course.

๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธDaniel: Okay. So, what is everyone bringing?
๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸฆฐAshley: Um, let's see. Here's my list. Um . . . Your brothers are bringing hamburgers, cheese, and buns.

๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธDaniel: Oh! I'm glad they are in charge of that. [ Yeah, me too. ] You know, my brother, Jim . . . He eats like a horse. [ Uh-huh. ] At the last barbecue, he put away at least, what, five hot dogs and five cheeseburgers . . .
๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸฆฐAshley: No, I think it was six. Six cheeseburgers. It might have been more hotdogs. I don't know.

๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธDaniel: He was still hungry!
๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸฆฐAshley: I know. I don't know how he did it. He does that all the time, he's . . . and he's not even fat. You'd think (he would be fat). Anyway. Oh, yeah, anyway. So, my friends from work said that they could buy chips and salsa [ Okay. ], and they're going to bring a salad [ Alright. ]. And one of them is vegetarian, and so she's going to bring her own veggie burger, so you don't have to worry about her.

๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธDaniel: Okay. That's . . . That'll work out.
๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸฆฐAshley: And Mike and Megan. You're going to love this. They're going to bring some of the corn from their garden.

๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธDaniel: Oh, their corn is always so, so good.
๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸฆฐAshley: Yeah, I know. It's wonderful.

๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธDaniel: So, um, yeah. What about drink?
๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸฆฐAshley: Well, we're going to have soda and juice, and ice water as well.

๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธDaniel: Okay. And what about dessert?
๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸฆฐAshley: I already have some ice cream and some homemade apple pie in the fridge.

๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธDaniel: Oh. I can't wait.

2โƒฃ4โƒฃ New to America from Asia ๐Ÿ›ฌ

Nancy was new to America. She came to America speaking only her native language. She brought her 8โ€yearโ€old son with her. He was all she had in the world. They found an apartment in Arcadia. They were there for only two months when a neighbor's dog jumped over the fence.

The dog ran toward Nancy's son. Nancy put her body in between the dog and her son. The dog stopped when it saw Nancy screaming at it. She was going to punch it in the nose. The dog turned around.
Shaking, Nancy took her son upstairs. They stayed in the apartment all weekend. Then Nancy found another apartment, close to the school that her son was going to attend.

She and her son walked everywhere. One day her son started coughing badly. He had an asthma attack. All the walking was making his asthma worse.

Nancy knew that she had to buy a car. So she called up the Honda dealer. She talked to a salesman who spoke her language. She told him that she wanted to buy a new car if he could come over to pick her up. The salesman said he would be right over.
