Not offshore banking. Not cash. Not gold. Not the energy superhighway we called the internet. As far as I assume, tokens won’t either.
CZ implementing KYC isn’t some betrayal of crypto values. It’s the FIRST REAL STEP toward making Web 3 actually sustainable instead of this lawless casino that governments are salivating to tax hand-over-fist.
You want to know what real regulatory capture looks like?
It’s when the govt doesn’t give you a choice.
It’s when they just ban it, or impose some absurd off-ramp tax, then with it goes our way of life; the hope that a collective decentralized marketplace gives us disappears into ashes.
KOLs posting about web3 ideologies being violated by KYC are the same people who will watch this entire ecosystem get nuked from orbit because they were too ideologically rigid to see what’s coming.
We’re not going to retain anonymous autonomy forever, because the philosophical tension being security and privacy exists inevitably. As a collective unified by our vision for fintech, we ought to be the ones WRITING the regulations, setting the standards, building the compliant infrastructure BEFORE they force it on us in ways we actually hate (i.e Gary Gensler).
Yeah, the runners everyone have been posting were is down. That’s inevitable as the already stringent on chain liquidity moved into Binance exclusives.
Yeah, people are mad about crimin, but in reality, they’re projecting that anger onto KYC because it’s easier to blame CZ than admit they’re holding through a correction. But their feelings don’t change the reality:
