You don't hate them enough #1: Kansas state rep Scott Schwab (R)

Mr. Schwab would take thousands of dollars of "campaign contributions" (bribes) from tort reformers, insurance companies, hospitals, and others who have an interest in denying those wronged by private companies just compensation.

In return for those bribes, in 2014 Mr. Schwab voted for a bill that would cap pain-and-suffering compensation at a relatively tiny $300,000.

In 2016 Mr. Schwab's son, Caleb Schwab, was on the Verrückt water coaster with two other people. This ride had a plethora of defects and negligent maintenance we won't get into here.

During the descent, Caleb's boat went over the second hump, became airborne, struck a metal support holding the netting, and tragically decapitated him.

Under Mr. Schwab had pushed for two years prior at the behest of businesses, he would have been entitled to only funeral costs and at most $300,000 for pain and suffering.

Mr. Schwab, being a truly spiteful and typical rightoid incapable of self-reflection, didn't think, "Wow, that law I signed is terrible." No; instead, he immediately threatened the defense attorneys that he would use a little-known loophole to have the case tried in a state without such a compensation cap because one defendant lived in such a state. Due to that threat, the defense caved and paid him $20 million.

To this day the law Mr. Schwab pushed for remains, and he has refused to comment on the obvious hypocrisy.

Any family put in an identical situation to his that cannot try the case in another state has to accept $300,000 at most if going to trial.

You simply do not hate them enough.
