Task: Upgrade an old setup to something modern. Simple, right?

Ryzen 1600 + X470, 2×32 DDR4 > Ryzen 9700X, B850, 2x32 DDR5

Opened the case — immediate war flashbacks:

Rubber pads for cooler? Used as washers between screws and bracket🤯

One corner of mobo held with a self-tapping screw. The head was so ruined only magic allowed to get it out.

Half the standoffs missing, the rest were from 5 different screw religions.

Cooler refused to part with the CPU peacefully. Classic.

Originally planned: CPU, RAM, mobo swap.
Reality: “We’re also replacing that KCAS before your house does fireworks.” following by unpacking my Cratos reserves.

Old windows couldn't make it:
BSODs (“Driver Power State Failure”)

Safe mode - No USB, no network, no patience...
Eventually Booted my test HDD, backed up files, nuked the old install, installed clean win10, latest drivers, all updates, and most importantly no KCAS.
