Gold surged ~75% over the past 12 months, peaking near $5,600/oz in January 2026 before correcting sharply to ~$4,887/oz as of late January (volatile amid Fed/policy shifts).
Rolex retail prices rose multiple times: ~5–7% average in 2025 hikes, plus ~5–7% in January 2026 (steel ~5–6%, gold models up to ~9–10%).
Secondary Rolex market (WatchCharts Index) gained modestly ~6% in 2025 overall, with Q4 stabilization; many steel sports models now trade near or below retail after prior premiums cooled.
Jewelry saw material costs rise sharply with gold, boosting intrinsic value of existing pieces, but global demand volumes fell ~15–20% (e.g., jewelry fabrication down 19% y/y in parts of 2025) due to affordability pressures, shifting buyers toward lighter/alternative designs.
Retail demand dropping significantly as price goes up as well. Imho most gains were made in gold/silver and we probably go into a consolidation period, and those are long in the metals sector.
