ON THIS DATE — June 30, 1999 On this date in 1999, Chris Jericho signed with the World Wrestling Federation. Jericho had grown frustrated in WCW, in part over the company’s refusal to let him wrestle Goldberg, and he made the jump to the WWF. He debuted weeks later, on the August 9 episode of Raw, interrupting The Rock and introducing himself as “Y2J.”
