At the annual anniversary and memorial of Nizar Banat’s martyrdom, a public festival unfolds in front of his home in Dura, Al-Khalil. His widow, Jihan Al-Horoob, shares her thoughts and vision for the day, echoing the deep commitment to liberation as expressed through the art of her late husband.

Jihan unveils Nizar's final but unfinished painting, a valiant Yemeni fighter with his feet steadfast on a mountain, an unsigned reflection of Nizar's political ethos.

She concludes: "[The PA] want the masses silenced.
Nizar refused to be silenced."
Who is Nizar Banat?
Hear it in the words of our martyrs:

Martyr Amir Abu Khadijah, founder of the Rapid Response Groups:
Indeed, the greatest jihad is a word of truth in the face of an oppressive tyrant. And I bear witness that you were among the greatest of the fighters and the fiercest of them in the truth. They wanted to silence you so that the people would not know about their scandals and betrayals. They captured you, chased you, and tortured you, but you remained patient.

They wanted to silence the word of truth so they killed you. They did not realize that they created a hero to be emulated.

Rest in peace, Nizar. Rest peacefully. Rest, until the day of our reunion. I am certain that their transgressions have opened for you the gates of paradise, so congratulations to you, Nizar, on your martyrdom.

Martyr Adham Mabrouka (Al-Shishani), assassinated on February 8th, 2022:
If speaking the truth leads to death, then prepare a shroud for us all [for we are all willing to die speaking the truth]. May God have mercy on the soul of the owner of the word of truth who feared nothing.
Martyr Hussein Qaraqa', who carried out run-over operation on February 10th, 2023:
Good morning my dear, and the dear of millions.
By God, those who issued the order, planned, executed, and participated will not wake up to a good morning. Nizar loved a specific type of freedom, which is the freedom of the mind. Because when a person liberates their mind, they will never accept any form of slavery.

An icon of Palestine and the Arab nation.
Nizar the Arab.

Hussein, who had both Basil Al-Araj and Nizar Banat as his Facebook cover photo, carried Basil at his funeral. Of Basil, the widow of Nizar, Jihan Al-Horoob said:

"This intellectual I met in 2011 used to come to Nizar's place and listen to every word he said. He was younger than Nizar, but on every trip he made to Al-Khalil, he had to call and say, "I'm coming, ask my sister Um Kifah to prepare the fish dish for me." He never changed this dish, and Nizar used to tease him, "We don't want to make fish" and he would reply, "My sister will."

This brave man (Al-Basil), when he was martyred, Nizar knocked on his door and shouted at the top of his voice, “They killed Basil!”

But when Nizar was killed, I am sure, Basil, that you shouted from your grave that they killed Nizar.

Peace be upon your souls, friends of the martyrs."

"Whoever killed Nizar Banat tried to kill me. Try to tell me otherwise."

These are the words of martyred prisoner Sheikh Khader Adnan after Palestinian Authority forces opened fire on him in Nablus after a series of attacks. Sheikh Khader said afterward, "It seems they did not need 14 people to kill me, as they did with Nizar Banat."

Sheikh Khader wrote, "I was arrested in the occupation prisons and went on a hunger strike just like I did in Areeha... The years have passed, the arrests [by the PA] have been repeated, and they have turned into assaults and attempts [on my life] in civilian clothes. The PA advanced, developed, demonized, and incited... They killed Nizar. Today, they want to kill us by distributing false accusations and inciting the homes of martyrs, prisoners, the wounded, and remote surveillance."

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah honors martyr Nizar Banat, "this audacious, courageous, clear, authentic person, strong in his stance on the matter of resistance and the Palestinian cause, courageous to the point of martyrdom."

Sayyed Hassan demands justice for Nizar, surprised that the killers of the enemy of the zionists would be the Palestinian Authority. He states, "This matter is not yet over" and asks that all Palestinian people confront the case of Nizar with justice and truth.
🟡 Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades - Jenin:

02:25 AM: With Allah's help and success, our fighters are engaged in armed clashes with the zionist occupation forces storming the city of Jenin in the Haifa Street area, and they are targeting them with heavy barrages of bullets.

The martyr of truth lives: Nizar Khalil Banat, Abu Kifah.
The martyr of truth lives.
Two years ago, Nizar Banat, the revolutionary intellectual, organizer, and advocate, ascended to martyrdom at the hands of the treacherous Palestinian Authority, who wanted to silence Banat for years. Indeed, Banat had been approached by the PA and normalizers years prior, who cautioned him regarding the dangers of speaking the truth and for demanding liberation from the river to the sea.

Banat did not fear the truth. He refused to be silenced and followed steadfast in the steps of prior martyrs from, not only Palestine, but with emphasis on the Unity of the Fields and the historical unity that carried the region against colonialism.

Banat's understanding of the zionist and imperialist agenda went beyond what today’s Western academics are capable of, as he was free of institutional commitment and limitations. In fact, he rejected those, cautioning against the NGOization and infiltration by liberal zionists.

He did not yield to the Palestinian Authority and its thugs, fully aware that they would violently silence him after his abduction and assault.

And when he ascended to martyrdom, and the masses rose, the Palestinian Authority descended upon the people with bullets, batons, and threats, even attempting to shame women and their honor for daring to stand for truth. Even after his martyrdom, Nizar terrified them. But these actions revealed and reinforced exactly what Banat was speaking of: no normalizer is ethical or has standards; they sell their dignity for their own self interest.

These normalizers continued to betray Nasser Abu Hmeid and Sheikh Khader Adnan. They betrayed Nablus and Jenin. They betrayed their journalists, students, and farm workers. Just as Nizar Banat illustrated through his words, the Palestinian Authority is an arm of US imperialism and a tool of zionism that will make no hesitation to betray the capital of Palestine, Al-Quds. Nizar did not arrive at these conclusions by chance; he meticulously studied philosophy and history, all the while studying art. His dialectical approach and keen political analysis of our regional history, and the material context of what came to shape our struggle, were passed to Banat by prior thinkers, revolutionaries, and martyrs.

On this day, think too, where are we headed, and what words do we carry with us? If fear trembles in our step, we betray Nizar and all of our martyrs!

"No to the silencer!"
From Naji Al-Ali to Basil Al-Araj and Nizar Banat, we raise our martyrs' voices high and raise our voices high with them. For liberation, for justice, and against the enemy in all its forms: comprador, imperialist, and zionist.
Resistance fighters in a speeding car opened fire on an IOF solider patrol near #Nablus.
Two settlers are wounded and their vehicle damaged with stones after they entered Azzun, east of #Qalqilya.
⚠️ The zionist entity has deployed two additional IOF battalions to the West Bank following a recent security assessment, bringing the number of active battalions operating in the West Bank to 27. This comes following the deployment of additional battalions last week, as well as the establishment of missile defense systems in northern Palestine a few weeks prior.
Zionist sources report the arrest of Abdulhakim Bawatneh from Ajul, #Ramallah for attempting to launch two homemade rockets in #AlQuds during the zionist flag march last month.

Acting alone, it is reported that he learned how to make the rockets from the internet. The rocket that led to his arrest was found in Beit Hanina behind the colonial separation wall.

Abdulhakim is a freed prisoner with Hamas affiliations. He was arrested several times previously.
Operation Dissipated Illusion.
17 years ago, and 17 days after the assassination of PRC founder Jamal Abu Samahdana (Abu Ataya), Hamas and the Al-Nasser Salah Al-Din Brigades carried out Operation Dissipated Illusion, kidnapping Gilad Shalit, a soldier who would be exchanged for over 1,000 prisoners five years later; just a one minute video of him was exchanged for 19 women prisoners. Two IOF soldiers were killed, and five were wounded in the operation in which two martyrs also ascended. In honor of this heroic operation, we are reposting Abu Ataya's legendary story.

As expected, traitor-in-chief Mahmoud Abbas and Fatah condemned the operation, calling for the return of the killer soldier free of charge and emphasizing that is against such operations "now and tomorrow and after tomorrow!" Such statements are in line with the PA's anti-resistance and anti-liberation positions as a comprador arm of the zionist entity.

A number of other IOF soldiers or settlers are currently held captive in Gaza, including Hadar Goldin, Oron Shaul, Avera Mengistu, and Hisham Al-Sayed (for whom Hamas released a video in June 2022 of him hooked up to an oxygen machine). Check the links for recent developments on each of the captives.

In December 2022, Hamas head Yahya Sinwar revealed the details of ongoing prisoner exchange agreements (watch on RNN here). However, such an agreement has fallen flat following the massive uptick in resistance in tandem with zionst violence. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, in his interview this week (translated here), noted that there will be no deal unless the enemy agrees to all demands; otherwise, more IOF soldiers will be captured. Previous prisoner exchanges have freed resistance leaders Ahmed Yassin, Ziad Al-Nakhaleh, Kozo Okamoto (in 1985) and Yahya Sinwar (in 2011).

The attached picture displays a Hamas poster in Nablus that read: "Our heroic prisoners. May every year bring new Gilad. [Our prisoners] are not alone."
"Never abandon your weapons, no matter the cost. Continue the fight. Continue to strike the enemy in all the places you can reach."

A son of Gaza, he was born in 1963 in Maghazi refugee camp. Arrested and re-arrested, he was forced to leave Gaza in the 1980s, where he was leading resistance. A leading military commander, he would, five years after his martyrdom, free over 1,000 prisoners. This is the story of commander Abu Ataya, Sheikh Jamal Abu Samhadana.
